Hi. I am planning to go Bali for holiday and is planning to rent a car. I am aware of the international driving license rule. And want to ask where to make one in Singapore? And is there any precaution to take when driving in bali, like beware of people stealing the car?

Why don't you rebt a car with a local driver who speaks English and knows the roads? Around IDR 450,000 a day only.

Hiring a car and a driver isn't expensive, if you don't mind a driver that speaks little or no English, can be IDR 3xxK, those that speak English start from IDR 400k a day, inclusive of petrol cost. Will be completel free and easy, stop as you wish. The traffic in Bali can be pretty bad especially in main tourist areas like Kuta, Tanah Lot, Seminyak and Ubud. Although the traffic is not quite as bad as Jakarta or Bangkok, I wouldn't recommend driving cos you aren't familiar with their local etiquette, or lack thereof.

definitely safe

my local bali guide is Dewa Marco, who has a team of knowledgeable, safe & reliable drivers/guide. he is on facebook, then u can whatsapp, email or FB him. Usually responds in the evenings after day's work.

450k rupiah is about S$50, for whole day, 8-10 hrs

they go where u want to go, shopping, makan, sightseeing or u can ask them to recommend

I assume that by "newb", you mean you are a new driver. If that is so, I strongly discourage you from self-driving in Bali. The roads are congested and filled with crazy drivers and scooters that DO NOT obey the traffic rules.

Not only will you be constantly stuck in traffic in the popular areas and have a hard time looking for parking space, but you'll be stressed by scooters appearing out of nowhere, riding against traffic and ignoring traffic lights.

Bali is NOT the place for a new driver. A hired driver knows how to handle the crazy traffic, and he can drop you off at the attractions and go look for a parking spot while you enjoy yourselves.

Just go to tripadvisor and you will find a list of recommended companies and their review. From my experience, these drivers drive tourist everyday and from all parts of the world. Whatever your needs are, they have probably seen it tons of times before. Don't be afraid to ask.

In Ubud, Bali right now and I have a recommended driver - I use this guy every time when I go back. He speaks really good English, is knowledgeable, with good manners, and most importantly - drives safely.

Hiring him for 10h would cost 600K IDR, or slightly more than $60 - you can't beat this value for NOT driving. I am not afraid to drive in developed countries but I would avoid doing this in Bali and Java.

Save yourselves some nerves and get someone who is local, knows how to drive there and can interact with other locals.

One last reason to hire card with driver - if you get into accident, by default you are assumed to be guilty even if you are parked with engine off.

Hi, you might want to consider a driver to bring u around instead. I've been to Bali twice in the past 2 years and go with this private driver Ponk. You can contact him through Facebook, look for Bali Horizon Tours. A full day tour would cost about 35usd.

Where do you want to stay, how many people and what is your price range?

I know an Australian gentlemen who manages about 25 villas in Ubud - 1 or two bedrooms. Price range are about $90 to $180 per day depending on size, location and amenities.

This. Hiring a local driver is much better. You can relax and dont need to worry about getting lost.

Also having someone who speak the local lingo can be very helpful.

When you are involved in accident, the local Indonesian police may try to be funny if they know you are not local.

The last time I went to Bali I stayed at Hu'u Villas in Seminyak, super highly recommended. Everyone I've recommended to stay there raves about it too.

Have also stayed at Tanadewa (Nusa Dua), Amanas (Seminyak), Anantara Uluwatu, Alila Ubud and Grand Hyatt (Nusa Dua). Feel free to ask questions about these places too.

Unless you are going to party, avoid Kuta like a plague.
