When in March? It will still be pretty cold at that time of year. Bundle up and wear good waterproof boots.

Place d'Armes is not a bad area...it's relatively close to the downtown core. You will be near Chinatown (try to find some Canadian/American ginseng...dirt cheap in Canada...pricey in SG).

You will be literally atop a Metro station if you want to travel anywhere outside the core. Ste. Catherine St West is where you will find some of the best shopping in one area. Start from Bleury St. and walk west towards Atwater. Stay on the odd number side of the street...think it's the North side...if I am wrong, you will realize it soon enough when you find out that all of the big shopping malls are on that side.

If you head further "north" to Sherbrooke St., best to take McGill College, you will end up at McGill University (one of my alma maters) and one of the top schools in Canada. Great campus.

Ste. Catherine, McGill University will keep you busy for at least two to three days. If you want to know more, let me know, maybe be a bit more specific.

Too bad it's March, I will be visiting in June/July this year. :)

I'll be heading to Montreal in Aug this year as part of a side trip from TO. But main focus will be visiting my alma maters UT and UPenn.

Honestly the only thing I can remember about Montreal from my previous trip 12 years ago was Notre Dame Basilica and the polish restaurant within old Montreal :s13:

How cheap are those ginseng? I was at ginseng farm in Niagara prices not cheap as cheap as I am getting them.
Wisconsin is a bigger producer of American ginseng, next Ontario Canada.

Maybe online prices is better get them ship to your hotel
http://www.raineyginseng.com

Montreal shopping that's new, Canadian come to states to shop, American go there for wine

Montreal is in Quebec why a few hours always away? Old Quebec city is like 3hrs away.

TS u heading there should just go red wing to buy your red wing boots! Burn like $400 in sg, spend the airticket to stop by Minneapolis drive there buy 3 pairs for usd$116 each!
