Going Xiamen Soon for 10 days

Anything worth to buy, must eat and shop? Any expert/ experience person, pls share?

Went to Gulang Yu and Zhongshan Road 10 yrs ago. No intention to go Gulang Yu again.

Most of the attractions in Xiamen are on Gulang yu.....
u should probably avoid going out in peak hours in xiamen, the traffic jam there is the worst

Don't waste time at GuLangYu. Actually nothing much within the Xiamen island but you can hop over to 金门 if you have never been there.

There is a 人和路闽台美食街, not like the one in our chinatown and is not far opposite the ferry terminal. A very famous 新夏虾面 there. Noodle is normal but soup base is

Was thinking of going Xiamen next year for short 2-3 night trip, so not advisable to stay on Xiamen island?

Was thinking to head to Fuzhou as well since there's the high speed intercity rail. Maybe spend 2 nights here too.

So Xiamen and Fuzhou nothing much to do and see?

comparing fuzhou and xiamen, i prefer xiamen.

You can go from Xiamen Huo Che Zhan and take bus go Da Deng Dao. It's a small island. Nothing much to see there though. Maybe still can see a bit of farms and a small resort hotel at the seaside. I stayed there once. Not bad.

You can try eating this.

This is the resort hotel in Da Deng Dao, problem is there's construction going on when i was there. There is still a Xiao Deng Dao, but if the sea is like this windy, i didn't managed to go as the sea was too rough.

You probably see alot of this shop there, i tried once, forgot already, even forgot what they selling.

Ate this is the hot humid June holidays.

Ate this Prawn thingy too, my gf wanted to buy, tried it and i remember it wasn't too bad.

Mua Chee, personally don't like this, prefer Singapore version.

Pu Tuo Shan, you should try the Vegetarian Meal there for once, i feel that it's not bad, ESPECIALLY the YAM PASTE. I REALLY LIKE IT, Can be a little sweet after awhile though.

Alot of people go to XiaMen University, never went in as it was too crowded back then.

Along the coastal road by the ferry terminal, found out got people filming china AV!

Never went in, it's a small themed cafe.

Not bad, but unfortunately wasn't too fresh. But was cheap.

Jin Pai Jiak! Don't buy this at Zhong Shan Lu.

This one definitely must try, i think it's the signature there. It was extremely crowded and hot, you can imagine i almost died among the crowd trying to buy this. Exchange your money for the vouchers first, then proceed to each of the mini stalls with the vouchers.

This is one of my favourite childhood sweet, but it was only available in Tong An, the xiamen version sucks, too hard, only TongAn is soft soft like neh neh pok.

Last and not least, fast food never escaped. Unhealthy meal, but just wanna try.

You are going to stay in Xiamen for 10 days?? That's a long time just for Xiamen.

You can try booking a taxi/bus to visit the surrounding tea plantations. The nearby Anxi region is the tea capital of China, and maybe the world, and is famous for its Oolong, Tie GuanYin, and other teas. Drinking kungfu tea is a favorite passtime, and will be really awesome when the weather's cold.

But the really must see place must be the Tulou (土楼) in the countryside. It's pretty awesome and I strongly recommend it. Read about it here: Yongding County travel guide - Wikitravel

You may like to visit Wu Yi Mountain(武夷山) as personally I find it worth the trip. You could travel by the over night train from Xiamen which would take 12 hours to reach 武夷山.

However you could cut down the travel time by taking the high speed train from Xiamen to Fuzhou which only take 90 minutes; from there change to the normal speed train to 武夷山, the total trip would cut down to 7 hours.

I feel that this would be a good opportunity to experience the China high speed train.
