Good 4TB 3.5"HDD?

Looking to get a good 3.5" 4TB or above desktop HDD. Any recommendations?

When u shuck the WD external you get the Red or the White label anyway.

i don't hear my 2 desktop HDDs at all. It's too much of a hassle to go remove a 2.5" HDD from an external HDD and then install a caddy on top of that to mount it.

I using toshiba one for storage. So far so good i think used 4 years

Using Toshiba, seems it is hotter when checking the temp.

Based on specs, they are also power hungry

I jus realised my 2TB storage is 5400RPM... which explains why it's so damn slow. Anyone know of any 7200 exact model? Or are they all the same?

I'm using a WD Red Pro 4TB. I think its a good drive.

Toshiba is good

5400rpm ones are mainly rubbish except noise & heat

In that case, go for 7200rpm hdds. I have used WD in the past, then switched to HGST and Toshiba NAS 7200rpm drives are my latest additions

HGST NAS is great but prices are quite crazy now.

It seems ex, relative to the cheaper non pro version. But if you look at the price relative to an SSD, you are getting 4TB for about 250ish, vs 1TB for the same price. Those prices are before any discounts.

While it is true that there is no hardware that can guarantee 0 failure rate, I do feel that when it comes to hardware, what you pay is what you get. There is a reason why it cost a whole 100 bucks more than the non pro or other cheaper drives.
