Good time to upgrade? CPU bottleneck

Need advices... i'm running into CPU bottleneck, should i partial upgrade now?

Current system	Upgrade system
i5 6500	i7 12700F
Gigabyte H170	Asus TUF Z690M ?
16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 DDR4	reuse-
Sapphire Nitro+ 5700 XT	reuse-
Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB	Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB
LEADEX III Gold 650W	spare- LEADEX III Gold ARGB 750W
	Lan Li Lancool II Perfomance USB-C ?
	Lian Li Galahad AIO 240 / ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 ?

what's your opinion or suggested parts?
or should i wait for Ryzen 7000?

Intel 12700 very slow ?
look like very recent can handle many games

i'm thinking upgrade to Intel i7 12700F or wait Ryzen 7000, but worry later DDR5 out of budget.

So far I owned 2 pcs, 12700k and 12400 mini pc,
Can feel that 12700k much faster from download and installation software, both are DDR5.
Crucial 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR5-4800 UDIMM https://s.lazada.sg/s.0Xy71

So far so good for both cpu, 12700k slightly run hotter, there is no issue for 240 or 360mm AIO.
About Intel 12400 used in 120mm AIO temp around 36-50c max.

hmm about ryzen 7000 still unknown the cpu temperature and heatsink yet.

Looks good, except that I don't see the need to change SSD unless you are going for PCIe 4.0 like the Samsung 980 Pro.

i don't intend to shift the SSD to new system, as the current system will still be functional. Then i have 2 PCs, or perhaps will change current system to NAS.

If you are already thinking of waiting for Ryzen next gen, seems like your need is not urgent.
Maybe wait and see first ? DDR5 is too expensive right now.

If you are really sure its the CPU,I think your current setup may be able to handle a CPU upgrade directly. Depends on the usage really. But if you see that your RAM is not being used and GFX card not being pushed but your CPU is at the top end and overworking.

That could mean a configuration issue or a problem with the CPU itself.

i'm pretty sure it's my CPU issue... i'm playing battlefield 2042 and notice heavy lagging in game, and thought it was GPU... but notice GPU only utilize only 30% when in game, while CPU is 100% constantly.

then only realised, i didn't check the game CPU requirement, min i7 4790...

1. 12700F has excellent value, but don't get an overpriced DDR5 board with fancy features that spoils the overall value.

2. Get a B660 DDR4 board like B660 DS3H and reuse your DDR4 ram, saving yourself the trouble and money. For me, I would probably spend around ~$250 on MB, anything more is kind of lame.

3. When buying a cooler, make sure there is good mounting compatibility as many reported issues of mounting-related problems.

4. Don't forget to buy thermal paste.

Correct, it's not out of the normal. Not surprised that the 4c4t CPU with poor IPC is bottlenecking. This is the proper way to tell for modern titles.

I generally avoid Gigabyte boards nowadays. Too much bad press from the company, and their motherboard for ADL started with a lot of stability issues as well. MSI is a good alternative, but I feel local pricing for MSI boards are quite high.

Every board have their problems, but Gigabyte really lost me as a customer because of the mishandling of the PSU issue. It shows they can’t even pretend to care, much less actually care for the customer. Asrock is alright to me, as long as you don’t go for the low end boards. 2 fairly recent ASRock boards I used worked well, barring one incident where flashing the BIOS corrupted it, and it took me some time to get it fixed.
