Good time to upgrade? CPU bottleneck

Every board have their problems, but Gigabyte really lost me as a customer because of the mishandling of the PSU issue. It shows they can’t even pretend to care, much less actually care for the customer. Asrock is alright to me, as long as you don’t go for the low end boards. 2 fairly recent ASRock boards I used worked well, barring one incident where flashing the BIOS corrupted it, and it took me some time to get it fixed.

No. Fortunately, even though the BIOS got corrupted, I was able to boot up and even get into Windows. It is just very unstable, and while I was using a 3900X then, the system will park 10 cores and run mostly on 2 cores even when you run applications of benchmarks that can utilise all cores. So as a result, my Cinebench R20 results fell drastically because most of the cores are parked and even the active cores are running at some odd clock speed. So I tried rolling back to an older BIOS, but it did not fix the issue. After trying to get Asrock customer service to help, which they offered no help at all, other than asking me a bunch of questions, then bringing me on a wild goose chase, I decided to try and reflash the BIOS with the same version that broke my board. Somehow, after flashing, the system decided to work properly. Quite an odd issue.

I generally avoid Gigabyte boards nowadays. Too much bad press from the company, and their motherboard for ADL started with a lot of stability issues as well. MSI is a good alternative, but I feel local pricing for MSI boards are quite high.

This time i bought MSI B660M Mortar WiFi D4...

all parts are in, looking for a fine moment to assemble them tomorrow.

Actually I won’t recommend Kryonaut. If you can return it, you should. It is very expensive, and I don’t really think it is worth paying that much for. I’ve used it previously and the thermal compound works well (which I am expecting for the price I paid), but the durability of the thermal compound isn‘t good, plus for my case, there was something wrong with the paste and it defaced all the cold plate of the 3 coolers that I used with it.
