Goodbye to an old friend

Good old 2500k, served me well since 2011. Survived through 2 mobo failures, 1 psu failure, 2gpu upgrades.

Clocked at 4ghz for 11 years, but alas even when pushed to it's brink at 4.7, it finally met its match with hogwarts legacy.

But being the cheapo I am.

Instead bought a 2600k for 35dollars of carousel. It too seems stable at 4.7, hopefully my game runs better now

Retro chips like this I hope you are using a decent cooler but Intel stock cooler.
I used to have a Intel i7 2600k unfortunately the motherboard have finally died.
I have replace it with Intel i7 3770k significantly but these old rigs I am running older OS
so not Win 10.

Used to swap cpu pretty often back in the days as the 2nd hand market has more traffic compared to now, don't really lose much money for upgrading/ side grading.

Q9400>2500k>3770k>R5 1600> R7 3700x>12700.

AMD Phenom II X4 940 -> Intel i7 2600k -> Intel i7 3770K -> Intel i5 4690k -> Intel i5 9400
-> Intel i5 9600K - > Intel i7 9700K.

Sometimes in second hand market can get really good deal like the Intel i7 9700k which use
to cost around $500. I brought it around $200 about a year ago as someone is selling it cheap.

These rigs are still running fine:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 rig - Win 7
Intel i7 3770k - Win 8.1
Intel i7 9700k - Win 10.

I just follows where the good value cpu for my usage is, don't care about brand lol. Intel stagnant for quite some time after ivy bridge, till Ryzen gen 2 released then they starts to wake up.

Reason why I did not get 3770k was because by now most chips would have been 3rd, 4th hand and if they were delidded in the past, current owner might not even know. 10 year old thermal paste/liquid metal also due for change, and I do not want to handle bear silicon.

Case in point I was negotiating with a seller and he doesn't even know what delidding is.

Plus 2600k is slightly cheaper
