so far my experience on 4S : open GPS + 3G = tracking accuracy on the spot and accurate to every single second

when i try GPS on this Galaxy Nexus : open GPS + 3G = still got the circle radius , and sometimes glitch the location can fly to other spot

Perfer the gd old GPS on my Touch Diamond..Definitely fast once u get a lock on..I use it in Pasir Gudang last time to GPS my timing..

my friend's ip4 also quite fast, like fire up google maps then the gps lock already and the blue circle is the small circle, not like mine which is big circle first, then when gps lock then become small circle. so either apple's gps is so fantastic or the gps lock on the iphone is fake one.

iphones dont just use 3g+gps to do location.

it makes use of wifi to very quickly pin down your location.

that is why my wifi only ipad can locate me quite accurately as well.

I believe if you switch off the wifi of the iphone, the triangulation will slow down considerably.

In fact, you will have a pop up to ask for your permission to turn on wifi to "improve" the location services when you use the maps app.
