Hi guys, I have been eyeing galaxy nexus for a long time and now it has finally came out in Singapore!

I'd like to buy a new one without plan. Because this is my first time buying a phone without a plan, anyone care to give me some pointers? Like is there. Anything to look out for? Should I buy the phone from official starhub singtel shops or is it better to look for them from this forum?

Also, I read from some reviews that there are different builds for galaxy nexus, like the Samsung build and the original Google build. Is the situation the same for Singapore galaxy nexus? Or are they all Google build here?

I saw some cheap deals in the forums. Are there anything different from buying from shops and buying from other people in forums?

Thanks in advance for any advise given

u can buy from the forums as long as it's local sealed set with receipt. don't buy from telco directly or samsung directly unless you like to pay high prices. a good compromise between safety and price would be buying from shops such as Moby or Mobilesquare.

Despite Galaxy Nexus Hardware is from Samsung (SS), Software stability wise..there is hell and heaven difference between Samsung and Google vanilla(no 3rd parties crap wares) .

Samsung has improved over time but not good enough..couldnt understand some of the rational of Samsung acts to screw thing up..

1)Browser- tweaking the browser to be dumb, cant do text reflow autofit nicely..Galaxy S2 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 same piece of ****..

2)Stock keyboard, Google stock keyboard is far much much better than Samsung branded keyboard. I dont know what Samsung has tweaked to make it retarded on text correction ..

People used keyboard and browser on daily affair..:s31::s31:

But the beauty of android is that if the stock apps suck, you got plenty of alternatives, so why get worked up over how lousy the stock apps are when u can replace them in 1 min with stuff from the Market? Stock google apps also are only slightly better, still lose to 3rd party apps in terms of customisability and features.

Just a quick question. I can only recontract in June. But I am really bored of my fruit phone. Should I wait for s3 (whenever that is) or pay extra and grab this one first. I want my switch to be worthwhile. Thanks people!! ;)

If you are feeling the nexus, then get it. We are not even sure when S3 is exactly coming out here and its price.

If S3 is disappointing for some reason, are you gonna wait again ?

some people already said what build it was, try searching a few pages back. I can't look at mine because I just rooted and flashed custom roms on it.

OMG.. What u guys previously recommended as a good rom is bang on the money! AOKP is frigging good! I tried Manhattan and Apex but AOKP blows them out of the water! So many customisations that can be done with this rom, it's amazing!

AOKP FTW!!

Head to Far East Plaza, all three mobile phone shops with rather good reputation (MobileSquare, Why Mobile, Moby) are there...

Only difference buying from these retail shops is you won't know which telco is it from, could be Starhub, Singtel or M1... might not be significant for this model though.

Someone earlier has mentioned that his GNexus from M1 is of yakjuxw build, but not to worry, all can be flashed to the Google yakju build...

Just enjoy the phone.

sorry, rather new to the Android scene but just to make sure, flashing to the Google build means root is required right?
