aren't all google phone suppose to receive update directly from google? where to get yakju google phone? how do i know if its a yakju phone before i buy it?

Update from Samsung 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 using the galaxy nexus toolkit. Now I have problem with the weibo and flipboard app, it's does not show any image and weibo keep stating no Internet connection. My stock os is imm76i. Any expert can help?

Try AOKP, good stock ROM experience.

i am really wondering should i root my phone or not.
i saw the galaxy nexus toolkit, i understand that it can lock bootloader and unroot the phone for u easily..
but anybody know if after rooting and unlocking the bootloader right.. by using galaxy nexus toolkit, will re-lock bootloader and unrooting the phone allow me to get update by google again?

advice will be appreciated. deeply.

Don't use the toolkit unless you know what you are doing.

if the toolkit cock up somewhere, it's hard to troubleshoot if you don't know what you are doing.

And flash milestone 5, it's a stable built.


If your phone is in stock configuration, you will get OTA updates. Doesn't matter whether bootloader is locked or not.

Stock config is stock recovery, stock android OS, unmodified android system files.

If you want to use a custom rom, you must unlock bootloader and root. It's quite easy with the toolkit, chances are nothing will go wrong as long as you follow instructions.

I got the same answer when complaining at Samsung Singapore Facebook page.


The value on Pure Google phone is fast update..if this is not the case..better buy branded phone from Samsung /HTC.....

Samsung is busy with its S3..why care on low volume Galaxy Nexus..Google should have made the keyboard adding additional languages as simple as downloading additional add-on rather than making it glueing to the system

But since when has there been a problem with text input on Android phones? If you needed some obscure language input, don't you just go install a keyboard that allows said input from the Store?

Anyway, not having updates isn't a bad thing. Nowadays just cos everything can be updated, people get stuck in this endless cycle of updating. Back in the days of feature phones, there wasn't a need to update your phone's firmware every other month.

If you're using a Galaxy Nexus you are already on ICS, which is the latest Android firmware now. What's the difference between 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 or 4.0.4? Probably so minimal that it won't drastically affect the usage of your phone.
