Why you guys so excited about nexus S when the dual core phones coming out in Q1 2011?

maybe the question on everyone's mind is, will dual core drain the battery faster.

as much as we like more processing power, the battery technology hasn't really caught up with the rest of the phone. :(

as it is, the single core phones currently from apple, android and wp7 in general, are all performing very well to expectations without sacrificing too much battery life.

In that case the galaxy S has slightly longer battery life than Nexus S isn't it?

The only main difference is Gingerbread, which doesn't provide much to end users at all.

Hey guys. Yeah I got my set from the US. My friend went to Best Buy to queue before he came to Singapore for Christmas.

The charger etc all work in Singapore. You just need to buy the adapter plug. The only thing of course is warranty isn't in Singapore, so you take that risk when you buy.

OTA updates work fine, I got my update to 2.3.1 already.

As for comparisons between SGS and Nexus S, I would say if you have the SGS don't bother to change. It's the same phone! My wife has an SGS and the only difference is that the colours on the screens look slightly different because of the calibration i think.

Nexus S is thicker but narrower than the SGS.

Once SGS gets gingerbread there won't be a difference between the phones, except that the SGS can still use additional SD card, and that the SGS has 2GB ram to store apps..I think the Nexus S is only 1gb ram.

I would only recommend Nexus S if you are coming from an older phone like the Motofail phones, or a really old android like HTC hero or something..

If you have a Nexus 1, Desire, or SGS there is no point in getting a Nexus S unless you have cash to burn..

Two words that will sum up why I'll be trading up from my Desire: stock Android. Oh, and my Desire's maxed-out as far as onboard mem/apps go.

True. My next Android phone should at least have Tegra2 inside, otherwise cannot keep up with the upcoming game releases. :D

and the rather sub-par 3D performance in first-gen Snapdragons. Can't play Dungeons Defenders properly :(

ya. agree. by then, we may already have changed phones a few times.
and if the speed of changes pick up, a tegra 4 may not sound so far fetch too.

though am concerned for the fella who shared that info. isn't it supposed to be "classified" stuff?

I used to have a motofail milestone so it was a no brainer to get the Nexus S, sick of waiting for manufacturer updates. I think in the end being on stock android has it's advantages because I can flash to whatever custom Rom I want with no hassle, and I'll still be assured of software updates early.

As for dual core phones...well I'm sure by this time next year there will be a Nexus 3 with dual core...depending on how they perform.

I must say I am quite impressed with my new Nexus S over my Nexus One. It is just that obvious that it runs smoother and lag free than the Nexus One. The extra memory helps the phone in this case.
