Just wanted to share a really weird experience I had yesterday at the authorized service centre when sending in my Pixel 10 Pro XL, and see if any other bros here have encountered something similar.

The Setup: Went in because I was experiencing severe power drain and requested a battery replacement. The counter staff initially tried to blame my charging cables, even though my cables work perfectly fine with all my other devices. They eventually took it in, gave me a job order form, and told me to come back in 3 hours.

The "Repair": Got an SMS after just 2 hours saying it was ready. When I collected it, they told me they replaced BOTH the battery and the screen. Very weird, considering I had absolutely zero issues with the screen and never asked for it to be replaced.

The Catch: I decided to check the battery cycle count on the spot. It wasn't reset.

  • I asked the staff why. Their reply: "Try restarting the phone, otherwise we need to do a firmware reflash."
  • I directly asked if they actually replaced the battery. Staff insisted yes, claiming it was explicitly recorded in the job order.
The U-Turn: Suddenly, another staff member went into the backroom, came out, and told me to wait. They took my phone back in for another 30 minutes to do the replacement. The excuse? "The technician mixed up and didn't replace your battery."

The Result: Got it back 30 minutes later. The cycle count is finally at 0, but the battery info looks a bit strange to me:

  • Manufacture Date: 29 May 2025
  • Date of First Use: 15 May 2026
Has anyone else experienced this kind of "mix-up" or phantom repairs from the Pixel Service Centre? Just feels really sketchy overall.

I did not have such experience before. In the past, I visited twice to replace battery, and everything went smoothly.

Sorry man to hear about your experience.

Might want to leave a Google Review too so that others can be made aware, since not only locals but others in the region do visit for repairs too.
