Hey guys, thanks to great advice and alerts here, I got the pixel 4a a month ago from Amazon Prime Day Sale - thinking of trying it before passing to a relative or selling it away.
However after a week with the phone, I decided to "downgrade" from Samsung s20+ to the 4a. Reasons being-
1. Size - pixel 4a is super handy and a welcome change after using the larger phones. Found the s20+ to be too big after using pixel.
2. Speed - though the 4a is using lower end chipset, thanks to Google's wizardry and optimization, it doesn't feel any way slower than 20+. And I could easily get used again to 60hz screen after rocking 120hz on s20+. Caveat is that I don't game much on phones, so don't need the horsepower.
3. Software - adding to the above point on speed, stock Android on pixel is just a joy to use. Smooth, sleek and lots of neat touches across the OS, including Google pay integrated with power button, etc.
4. Camera - photo quality very comparable to s20+. Some photos turned out better, some turned out worse. I personally feel s20+ takes better photos for dark indoor places like restaurants. Outside night shots are amazing with nightsight.
I do miss certain features like wireless charging, IP68 rating but realised they are nice to have and not critical to my daily usage. This has also got me thinking whether I should continue spending on flagship which are getting more and more expensive each year when phones like pixel 4a can tick most of the boxes at a good price.
Hope my experience can help some folks here. Thanks again for all the great tips and advice so far - keep them coming!
