I changing from Pixel 2 to 4a, would you say its more of a hardware refresh instead of a upgrade? Or is it a downgrade? haha

I think it's an upgrade in terms of overall usability. Just GPU performance for gaming not as good, and no IP rating (3.5mm at the top, so gotta be a bit more careful too haha).

- More ram
- more or equal storage (if you have the 128gb version)
- much much better battery life (compared to my old p2 i think is like 1.5 - 2X more)
- much better display (it's brighter outdoor compared to even pixel 4)
- 3.5mm (average sounding though)
- i think speakers sounds fuller than p2 and less shrill
- ability to use eSIM + nano SIM
- then 3 more years of android updates (p2 updates ending)

for build quality i find both well build though, since p2 has that plastic coating outside anyway. P4a still feels quite solid for a plastic phone. wireless charging both phones don't really have. pixel visual core didn't really do much on the p2 anyway.

Just curious if pixel 4A is manufactured by any Hp brand makers like LG or HTC in the past?
I saw in wiki that it says manufactured by Foxconn only.

Probably not? Google acquired large chunk of HTC's phone department, so likely designed by them. By the way, it says phone manufactured in Vietnam in case anyone is curious :s13:

Thanks man for taking the time to make this comparison. My main reason to change is the ailing battery and the huge forehead and chin of P2. But see your comparson, seems got more things to look forward to.

I only notice only a single microphone from the reviews online. I wonder if that will affect the call quality or voice clarity for the other person on the other end of the line...

Rear cam probably an upgrade too, with all the newer features like astro photography, exposure/shadow control etc. Image quality upgrade probably not that great since the sensor i think same or similar. but the more obvious one is probably the better white balance. Front cam... i think Pixel 2 still sharper though haha, just that it doesn't have the same type of image processing as the Pixel 4 that will like even out the shadows in the face.

Also when i say gaming poorer, it's still mostly playable one. I tried COD mobile, asphalt 9, both no issue, just don't push the graphics too high. Only game with issue is Mobile Legends. like the mi9t and reno2 with SD730G i tried last year, somehow don't have high frame rate mode. After being so used to the smoother motion, a bit weird to play at lower fps. if only they used 720g instead. :s13:

Don't think will have issue la. I don't call much so not really a good judge, but did a test call and it sounds just find. Most phones these days have decent mics since they want to be able to record good audio for video recording. haha.

It has 2 mics by the way, 1 top and 1 bottom like most phones these days (p4 has 3 iirc). Normally calls mostly just using the bottom one anyway.

Oh, cause I only noticed one mic hole at the top but if there is two then I am fine. As long as the Pixel 4A get all these basic functions right then at the current price along with the software - I think we have a winner.

I am pretty sure I saw an IR sensor(I suppose) that gives off purple light occasionally in one of the reviews I saw I on YouTube. I do hope it is an actual proximity rather than the AI proximity software like on the OnePlus 7T that gave people a lot of problem(from what I read on Reddit and OnePlus forum) when they are answering a call and their face accidentally pull down the menu from notification bar or something. Really unacceptable for a phone and that is why I hesitated on the Nord.

The bottom has two grill beside the USB-C port, one of them is the speaker one is the mic. haha. yeah, it seems like an actual proximity sensor.

The delivery period is now 14~15 Oct instead of 8~9 Sept and it has priority shipping which costs another $23...

You're right. The shipping is really ridiculous when they write its free delivery. Courts gives a free JBL earphones w the order

Ya, might as well just pre-order from Courts. It is just that at this rate I don't even know if there is a soft cut-off within Courts and Hachi.tech that if pre-orders come in after a certain date then it will ship much closer to the 14~15 Oct date instead...

Some camera samples. 4a seems to have slightly warmer colour, seems to lift the shadows a little bit more than the 4 as well, and in lowlight it's not as saturated. Kinda like it a bit more?

But definitely loses out when it comes to portrait mode and telephoto.
