This is basically pixel 4, strip to its bare minimal essential functions. What's to test really :s22:

These days flagship phones also no more excitement with just bits of small improvement, let alone midrange ones

I think the reason ppl buy this phone is purely due to camera and 3yrs os support :o

Once people get the retail unit will know if really is demo set issue lor...

I also doubt the retail unit will lag like that, even my more than 1 year old P3a doesn't lag in this manner and that is using eMMC storage. P4a uses UFS and I can already see the responsiveness improvement with app launching on the demo set, just the UI is lagging like no tomorrow which I find it strange...

Demo sets tend to be laggier due to the always-running demos. It's the same for Samsung phones too. Demo sets are always laggy as hell, but actual sets are fine.

Could be because other apps, usually dozen, are opened in the background simultaneously. I noticed the lag when I played around at Courts. Once I closed all apps, it ran decently well. I actually like the simplistic approach of the 4a.

You like this say wrong alr. If demo set lag, real life will only be worse. It isn't going to suddenly perform miracle with improved speed after you install more and more apps and incoming vid+photos. Demo set is the best chance to see the long term performance, I've mentioned this many times before but few people believe me

Samseng phone same, last time I also see noticeable lag in demo then bought back. As expected, 6mths later lag getting worse. Idk is due to their lousy exynos chip or their poorly coded ui. Maybe some people don't mind or notice the lag la

4a is not a bad phone. Only the screen and chipset are the biggest concern, esp for long term usage. Short term usage is fine imo, then nx yr just change new phone :o

Not true. Demo sets are looping videos on full brightness and under very heavy spotlight. The heat generated is insane. Same with almost any other phone be it Exynos or Snapdragon. The lag comes with severe throttling of the SOC due to heat. Also, don't forget the set is perpetually connected to the charger 24/7. So it is like a double whammy.

I have had no issues with all my phones though Demo sets were horrible when even navigating the UI. Alot of skipped frames. Note 10+ also was so bad when I tested at Singtel. Yet here I am after close to a year with Note 10+ Exynos and it is far from what I experienced with the demo set. But YMMV. Not everyone's usage is the same after all.

IMO I think is the additional demo software that they added causing such issue, the software is what keep the display on and running intro video/prevent people from doing something and auto resetting the phone after people touch finish..etc

Some demo sets might be faulty?

Take the ones at Challenger @NEX for example: 2 sets of 4a side by side - set on the left lags very badly, while the other set is pretty responsive :s22:

This is my exact experience at Nex too.

Tried the set at challenger amk and j8, both no issue.

My credit card was charged on Sunday, but still no change of order status. It's showing "We'll email you when your delivery is on its way." with a delivery date of 8-9 Sep. Hoping it will be 8 Sep (today) but doesn't look likely.

Also just realised there isn't an easy way to contact Google Singapore...

Google seems so quiet. I did an online chat with them, but got connected to Google US, who can't help much. They said they directed me to Google Singapore, who is only on email, and to expect an email within 12-24 hours. I wonder if it'll be as hard to contact them for warranty and other issues.
