Am on Starhub and no VoLTE has be seen on my Pixel 4a

I rmb my pixel 2 xl's volte works on Singtel back then. hmmmm

not true, my pixel 2 volte not working back then. pixel 3 my wife was using back then. can't really remember whether it works or not.

Update for vPost Taiwan, called them and they are unable to allow FedEx to pick up from their warehouse… say they do not provide this service.

Then I requested for refund from Google Store TW, how it works is that they will send somebody to go to you to collect the phone, no way of delivering back to them with return label or what, cause it is not provided. Because of this you also cannot ask the guy from Google to come down to vPost to take the phone…

No choice I have to activate my friend’s relative who is staying in Taiwan by redirecting the phone from vPost to them (Paid $11.50). So Google can collect from them for refund. This redirection still in progress will update again.

Other comments pointed out that ezbuy ezShip can help to ship, you may want to try.. but based on my call to them they say cannot.. so I don’t want to take the risk otherwise the return period expire already then cannot refund.

Why not ask your friend's relative to ship to you via Fedex instead of refund?

They are not sure how to ship, since they are a retired old couple and live quite a distance from the city. Plus if I choose FedEx pickup they will have to print out the shipping label. Both methods are quite troublesome on their part.

They are already doing me a huge favour by holding on to it for me, that's why I think refunding and getting Google down to them is the best. Less trouble for all.

Anyway in the meantime I have ordered from Clove, let's see how this one goes!

Selfie looks fine, can't compare as I rarely / never use it. Uncle liao, nothing to take pic of.

Fingerprint sensor seems to be getting better over time, might just be me. The glass is super fingerprint magnet. Nothing else I dislike. Maybe Alipay not really compatible with Android 12, and a couple of my games crop wrongly?

Fingerprint is their hardware/software limitation too, all the prob is not you. If the product didn't work, it means they didn't test it well enough to launch. Not user prob bc not the first day we use smartphone le

Then you better look elsewhere. Cause from what i know, pixel has only 1 sim only. The esim may not work with the local telcos.

Another thing is. If the pixel is able to use our local 5G SA, then turning on 5g or not. I rather leave it on. 5G SA speed is rather crazy fast. 450Mbps to 850Mbps is fantastic. Even downloading contents is blazing fast. There was once a saying, the last time when 4G launched. Once you turn on 4G you wont wanna use 3G.

So to me, after using 5G SA on my S21+ for almost 3 months. I can safely say i wont be going back to 4G any time soon.

Is there any difference in watching YouTube for 4g or 5g?

Wanna know are there any real world difference in speed, or issit like our home fiber where 500mbps and 1g can't feel any major difference

Imo, streaming wise, if you have a faster bandwidth, your buffering should be non existance unless you fast forward away from the given buffer. All streaming services do not download entire clip when you watch online. They only download a portion.

So what you will noticed is that, you would see the buffering when you fast forward, but is much faster now as good as home wifi assuming you are on 1Gbps plan.

But the whole point of using 5G is not just for streaming. Even downloading contents from websites are much faster. Gaming wise depending on your location, ping are also all time low unless you are in areas where the 5G signal is low. Such as in building.

Unlike other phones showing "VOLTE" in status bar and not sure for other pixels, only "LTE" is shown in status bar for Pixel 5a (Starhub).

Correct me if i am wrong best way to test is simply make a call and access internet at the same time, the network status should not dropped below LTE.

Hmm I think should at least show HD on the Google Phone app itself. I'm using Google Phone app for Redmi too and it does shows HD.

mmm for me i don't have any big files downloads over phone, but this should appeal to gamers or business creatives who rely heavily on phone rather than laptop

will wait 2025 nx time when 5g is cheaper then get bc the improvement isn't like 3g to 4g so huge and price is v v important

but hor pixel 6 is not going to have 5g support here for export sets so you all buy fr overseas how

There is a lot of unknown when using fwder especially on vpost or at least now ezship TW as well ( took the gamble last year ). Try at your own risk

From my memories, the pixel 2 xl never gain support for Volte despite being sold by Singtel.
From pixel 3 onwards, volte support was enabled for Singtel and starhub only after upgrading to android 10..or 11? Can't remember.

Pixel device also do not display the volte logo at the top even if it is working. The only way to tell is if you have that option to enable or disable. If you can't find this option, then it is not supported.
To test if it work will have to try making a phone call, staying at lte instead of dropping to h will indicate volte is working.
In order to see the HD sign in the phone app, you have to make a call with someone who is on the same Telco and has volte working as well.

I own pixel 2 xl, pixel 3a, pixel 4 xl and pixel 4a.
Can't confirm for imported pixel since I don't own those.
