Mayi know how have they come to the conclusion that Tensor is not a custom solution like Apple's M1 ?
Hopefully with the right combo hardware and software, google can get the p6 right, and most importantly mkt to more countries!

Tensor code name is “whitechapel” which has the same code name as Samsung unreleased processor. It’s too naive to think Google is advanced enough to design a brand new custom chip on their own.

I used my gmail account, to actually feedback about the lack of availability of Pixel devices in Singapore after the Pixel 4, haha

Full email reply as below:
-----------------

Hi Christine,
Thanks for contacting Google Support! Happy to help!
This is Clover from the Google support team and I hope this email reaches you well.
Allow me to thank you first for your interest in our products and thank you very much for patronizing them! It’s also good to know that you share our excitement with Pixel 6 phone. Just to set your proper expectations, it indeed seems not to be for released in your region yet. So sorry we have no further information if and when it will be offered in Singapore.
You can try checking with one of our partner retailers in your country. The devices they sell are just like the ones we sell directly and the good thing is you'll have the same warranty. Our authorized retailers in your country are:

  • Courts
  • Challenger
Additionally, you may also set up your account to receive email notifications so that you’ll be notified once the item becomes available or if it will be offered in your country. To may do this by following these steps:
  • Go to store.google.com.
  • On the top right, click the profile image.
  • Click Settings.
  • Under "Email preferences," you can enable “News and update” and “Personalized emails” to receive Google Store updates.

Moreover, I do understand your urgency and the importance of this concern to you. So on my end, I'm going to send feedback to our management team to let them know that one of our valued customers like you would like to have Pixel 6 in Singapore.
I hope I was able to give the information you need for your concern.

We appreciate your patience and kind understanding. Feel free to reach back if you have further questions.

All the best!

Thanks!
Clover

This seems pretty disappointing, I've just caught interest in the Pixel phones after reading up on the Pixel 6 Pro but after some digging it seems Google does not sell official Singapore variants of any of their Pixel phones.

The ones I saw at Courts and Challenger were basically from some other region? How does warranty work if there's no authorized distributor here? RMA directly to Google overseas? The 5G bands seems to also be another concern as well.

Was initially deciding on the Mi 11 Ultra but after knowing that the China variant only has 2 5G Bands (n1 and N78) of which the Telco uses, I'm not sure if I want to splash out 1.2k especially when I don't upgrade my phones frequently and there's concern of not having local warranty.

Anyway, I hope Google includes a large sensor for its Zoom camera and a longer lens as well. And a decent pair of Stereo Speakers that can match the S21 Ultra and Mi 11 Ultra. A micro SD slot will be an icing on the cake.

Google does sell some of their Pixel phones in Singapore. Most recently, Pixel 4a, 3a, 3a XL and before that P4 / P4 XL.

But if you are looking to hang on to your phone for a number of years with support for local 5G , i suggest you look at the models that are offered by telco for reference. Those models will have the highest chance of working with 5G and VOLTE in Singapore.

OnePlus going downhill le

I believe their oxygen os will be overridden by color os soon :(

Only a few big brands here for smartphones consideration: iphone, Samsung, pixel

Color OS isn't that bad since Android 10 revamp. It's been toned down a lot in the global rom. I personally find it less intrusive than Samsung one ui.

However, you have to worry about software updates as OnePlus seems to be getting slower as the number of models they are pushing out increases.

Yes my current oneplus updates getting so slow that I thought I'm using Samsung phone where they're notorious in being the worst sw update company

Not sure how is color os, maybe can try playing with one at challenger store this weekend for nord 2

Starting with Nord 2, it's just ColorOS with OxygenOS skin on top. Oppo and Realme also uses ColorOS as their base with their respective skins. Of the 3, Realme is now closest to stock Android visually.
