Looking at it. the battery transfer heat via the flim to the aluminium plate. the soc also transfer heat to the plate (no vapor chamber). if excessive heavy usage or using demanding app, the plate gets so hot and thus causing the phone to get a bit warm. machiam transfer heat from one another and passing back

I think that is a good thing.. imagine if no heat sink/spreader.. the heat will remain in the SOC/battery and get hotter even if you can't feel it from holding the phone.

Just because a phone feels cooler does not mean insides are not cooking... thats why metal body phones used to feel warmer than glass body phones.

Yeah I also recall reading the P6/P6Pro screen is easily replaced, but also means they are not good at conducting heat away from the processors

Google needs to improve the heat dissipation in their pixel. luckily the pixel is sandwiched between 2 pieces of glass, so the heat can still escape

Quick poll for the folks here who have already received their Pixel 6/6 Pro: Any issues with the green tint on screen when the phone is tilted at an angle? It seems like a common complaint on Reddit, but I really can't tell if it's a selection bias thing, where people with problems are making more noise, while the majority don't have the issue.

Colour accuracy is more important when viewing photos and videos. In those cases, probably won't be viewing them at an angle. Could be the reason why it's not a common complaint. AMOLED screens do shift towards the bluer/greener end at angles.

Google jumped in blindly just bc iphone has faceid, but found it to be disgustingly ugly and then removed

To me, google is never serious with smartphone  every nexus is an experiment and the same goes for pixel with just a name change lol

That said, not many big boys out there that can compete against iphone le :(

Pixel are far from perfect devices but google shld have kept these "pixel" features. like when you see a car with scissor doors, you think of the lamborghini. these features defines the pixel

Yah, they are never stable, those wanted pixel should know and adapt to their wildness

Some previous nexus/pixel bugs etc also rolled out for a few patches, some solve, some not. buying times of their own then release new product for another year leow. hurray!

My 1st gen pixel bud till date still have intermittent issues from time to time. Also like that..

That's why it never pays to be an early adopter for Google stuff..

i've never used hydrogel before, always tempered glass on my phones.

This time round because of curved screen of P6 pro, I tried using hydro gel. i bought those cheap ones $2-3 for 2 from china on shopee.

First time I tried, it was really bad because of so many small bubbles. i took it out and then I watched a few videos, all which said to just push out the bubbles as much as you can, then small bubbles will disappear within a day.

I didn't believe it, but I tried it anyway. there were still a few small bubbles, but they were mostly flat.
Within 1 hour, all the bubbles were gone, and my phone screen looked as if the manufacturer applied the SP. It was unbelievable. The surface feels almost as smooth as glass.

I will never doubt hydrogel again.
able to share why u get hydrogel for other reasons besides the curved edges? Doe it protect the phone from cracks n scratches well?

With regards to the current reported issues,

The folks here who have gotten or are waiting for theirs are most likely prepared for it, why so?
-Pixel's historically since the nexus legacy era are always plagued with inflated month 1 and 2 issues
-more so than other brands
-as expectations are always higher vs any other android brand since

Apple is the maker of IOS, everything should be better integrated (& do take note that while fruity has been lacking creativity for the longest time, they are the perfectionist of the tech world)
So naturally,
Google is the maker of Android, everything should be better integrated! (users are much less forgiving)
Google has always been the explorer and tinkerer, not the perfectionist and
Most importantly and unfortunately, in comparison to Apple (which iPhones are arguably their top bread and butter),
pixel to Google is just a 'potential' revenue generating project and worst case, a pet project to collect more data
to train their machine learning

-most of the pixel owners are pretty much aware and can live with the above
-and yes, the potential is there for pixel to be the 'iphones' of tomorrow (this is the exciting unknown that all technologist or gadgeteers looks forward to)
-provided that Google is willing to burn $ to innovate and entice until they can make it
-Google is still money pitching (unfortunately) but at least
-generation 6 is a huge step forward since pixel is really offering (mostly) premium grade hardware (to compliment the supposedly better software) by now

Personally, I owned a lot of flagship phones (since galaxy s2 era which Android finally speeds up) and
am itching to own but never hop onto the pixel bandwagon because previous gens' pixels
are so expensive with arguably mid range specs while the challenger (at that point), Huawei, was so creative and price competitive making past pixels so arrogant and 'off the mark'.
Just look at the likes of Mi11ultra and Vivo X70 Pro+ (these phones are quite the threat if you truly uses them without the old-timer-mental-block of china brands = lesser brands. Vivo X70Pro+ is very impressive on the camera side of things).
Now, Pixel's generation 6 stands a chance to compete and build confidence!

btw, I switched mine to black with BAB and am expecting it on Monday (fingers crossed once again)
@altca4 So you got your phone already?

I don't believe there's a need to retain any physical style just to recognize their brand la. The phone is just too small, unlike a car, so can stamp their brand logo can alr

Even iphone doesn't retain the same design factor

Same for Samsung or iPhone, many design iterations, and this year s21 really nails it as the best beautiful smartphone design :o

I wasn't impressed with Pixel 1, it feels more like a guinea pig product as we all know Google likes experimenting stuff

This yr pixel 6 is pretty decent overall bc other phones are stagnant lol. And also it finally caught up with the features I want.
E.g. bigger screen, bigger battery, most importantly the upgraded hardware camera after so many years lol (that was what made me excited)
