Since 7a was quite a big upgrade from previous A series, I'm not sure what changes if any 8a can bring this year other than SoC and matching p8 series design. Telephoto camera is almost definitely out of the question given the budget category.

Also, I thought they are about to halt a series already?

According to a new report from WinFuture, Google plans to give the Pixel 8a another price increase when it launches likely in the next couple of months.

The report cites German retail sources, where the Pixel 8a is listed for €569.90, up from the Pixel 7a’s €499. This also implies that the device would be sold in the US for around $549. The Pixel 8 currently starts at $699, so this price increase on the Pixel 8a would bring the gap back to $150 as it was with Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 ($449 and $599).

Dont worry, 11.11 or Black Friday will bring down the prices.

Looking at the Google 8 series pricing history, I can already see their strategy. They will set MSRP at XXX amount higher than the discounted price. Example, if they don't want to sell the phone below usd 399, MSRP will be usd 399 + " holiday discount "

Google's pattern for their A series launch in SG for the past few phones is they will pwn those who preorder one.

Buy A series must wait for later sales like 11.11 or black friday.

Pricing will be crucial. Will be debating keeping p7 or selling it off for p8/8a or wait for p9

Nothing new... Only if it says pixel 8a will feature a snapdragon 7 gen 2/3 instead of tensor 2. Then that is NEWS :s13:

If P8 is already missing out the Gemini, I think 8a will be missing even more features in the future looking at Google practices.

The P8a will be more expensive than the P7a, and if the P8a is not getting gemini and all the smart features (but getting the battery stats feature), what's the point of the tensor chip? like @KeYoKe said, might as well use the sd 7 gen 2/3

This is what happened exactly to P8 currently, no? P8 is not getting Gemini based on reports and yet P8 is also on the latest Tensor just like P8P. Even the entry level S24 can support Gemini. Furthermore, 8a is a budgeted model, I gighly doubt Google will be focusing on budgeted models as much. My gut feeling tells me that Google will be trimming more and more services for the budgeted series.
