Sorry even though it's a gift, as long as you bring the things into Singapore and they deemed that item need clearance then you need to pay for the GST 7% of the value.

They will use their own market rate (they have a PC standby and surf the net to check the price), despite you have the receipt.

Please remember they will tax you base on the market value of the item, not the price you paid for that item.

I have encountered this before, i bought the white wine (wine for cooking purpose) it cost me around $10 each. I brought in 2 bottles and i was taxed $24 ($12 each).

The tax itself is more expensive compare to the wine. WTF!

When an organization like the government designs systems to maximize revenue from the populace, you know something is very wrong :(

This is inconsistent with information on this website:
"All new items, including gifts and items that have been purchased overseas, are subject to GST. If receipts for the items are unavailable, their value will be calculated by assessing the values of identical or similar goods."
If you have the receipt, it should be based on the receipt.

Borderlinx. But cost is high as you will be paying for 20% VAT plus 7% GST on top of shipping from UK to sg.

I AM not saying literally beh.
Just saying as whether to quit from following Pixel order.
Too much of money looting just to ship in a phone.
Matter of being expensive is one thing, but...but..

i believe rhe price will drop only if retail do promotion. if google decide to use the way iphone sell their stuff then price will not really drop much as it is control by them. furthermore i believe they cant price too low as in long term this will hurt samsung and other brand that run on andriod
