One possible scenario for this delay might be that Google discovered a last-minute issue that warranted pulling the August security patch. However, there was still something important that required an update and thus the July stopgap emerged.

This month’s odd Pixel update situation continues, with Google announcing a small update for the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a to address one issue.

Google’s three latest phones are getting a “Fix for GPS location failure under certain conditions.” For the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, this is still just the July security patch, while the 6a is likely still on the June patch level.

There are multiple carrier builds. Google did share today that the “August 2022 update for all supported Pixel devices will begin rollout in the coming weeks.” This presumably features the August patch level.

Google released June 2022 security patches for its Pixel lineup last week. As with all previous releases, the June 2022 update brings several bug fixes and performance improvements to all Pixel phones going back to the Pixel 3a series. In addition, the update reportedly enables VoLTE roaming for several U.S. and global carriers.

On Monday afternoon, Google posted three builds (Japan, Global, and Verizon) for the Pixel 6a, and EMEA for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. A handful are still missing, while the Global on-device OTA for the 6/Pro widely rolled out today.

Google delayed august update. So i suspect p6a will have july and august update released together when the august update is ready

You can always try first, if there's issue then do clean install. I have tried both update and clean install in the past, never had major issues.
