September 2023 Pixel Watch App Update​

Hello Pixel Watch Community,

Google Pixel Watch App users will receive updates starting today, and the rollout will continue over the next few weeks.

We encourage you to check your Google Pixel Watch App version and update to the latest version (1.4.0.559745056) in the Play Store on your phone.

With this update, you can now sign in to the Watch app with your Google Account. For the best experience, we recommend using the same Google Account in the app and on the watch. Use the Watch app on your phone to manage the accounts on your watch: Google > Accounts > Add accounts.

What’s included in the September 2023 update:

• You can now use your Google Account with the Pixel Watch app.
• Link your watch to a Google Account in the Watch app. If you don’t link your watch to an account, you can find it under the “Use without an account” section.
• Your devices have moved to a new section that can be accessed through the top left icon. There you can easily switch between your devices or add a new one.
• Bug fixes to improve the quality of the Watch app.

Google Pixel Watch Update - September 2023​

Hello Pixel Watch Community,

All supported Pixel Watch devices running Wear OS 3.5 will receive the September 2023 software update starting today. The rollout will continue over the next week in phases depending on carrier and device. OTA rollout for all devices will begin on September 11, and devices within Canada will start rolling out on September 18. Users will receive a notification once the OTA becomes available for their device. We encourage you to update to receive the latest software.

"Google updated the Pixel Watch companion app last week, and version 1.4 appears to be responsible for resetting app notification preferences.

As such, apps that you previously prevented from sending notifications to your watch now do. If you unchecked several apps during the initial set-up, that process has to annoyingly be repeated after updating."

The setup process involves going to either the Pixel Watch mobile app > Watch preferences > Security, or Android 14 Settings > Security & privacy > More security & privacy > Watch unlock. Alternatively, you may receive a notification prompting you to set up Watch Unlock.

Google positions Watch Unlock as being useful “when your fingers are wet or face isn’t recognized.”

For Watch Unlock to work, your wearable “must be unlocked, on your wrist, and within reach of this phone.”
