If you really have no interest in what you are doing right now it's the best to switch to something else that you like instead of wasting your time.
I have just graduated from NYP SIDM and DVE usually has a rather small intake as compared to DMDG. It is indeed harder to get in to DVE so if you're being offered a spot I believe that it is a very good chance especially if you're interested in it as well. Age hardly matters, and I have course mates that are 26 and they eventually did really well.
DVE have a lot of chances to collaborate with Mediacorp (actually almost every show DVE has a part in it).
I've seen their works (I believe you have seen them too) and they are pretty good and cool looking.
Even if you don't plan to get a degree you'll be able to find a job during the graduation show if you're in DVE (I wouldn't say so for DMDG or other game courses, their booths were empty throughout the entire graduation show).
As for GPA wise... For courses in IDM I'm very convinced that it has got a lot to do with your interest. Those that are very passionate in what they are doing are always in the director's list. Because if you love what you're doing there's no way you'll screw it up. Even if you do screw it up, you will manage to get past it fine because of your strive for it.
There are some courses that everyone should avoid and some courses that no one notices but actually gives you a very good future. It's always depending on a bit of luck and a lot of your interest in it.
Hi astropos, could it be due to the low demand in VFX that the intake is smaller compared to games? Do you think i should endure my balance 2 years in the games course at tp than move over to cgprotege's or 3D Sense's diploma in visual effects instead of giving up my 1 year of time in my current course and going to nyp?
This way even if i'm unable to push up my grades it doesn't matter as I will be moving on to a 1 year private diploma in visual effects after i graduate. Either way I'll still be burning away 4 years of time and at least I would feel less burden of repeating my year 1 plus I will have 2 certs instead of one, plus if in a case where i can't find a vfx job I could also be a game developer thanks to that games cert.
Is this a stupid decision? Should I just focus on one interest instead of diversifying?
Have you or do you know any of your friends that heard or study in one of these 2 CG Schools here below? Both offer Private Diploma in Visual Effects, I'm wondering will there be a difference with the Local Dip in VFX at NYP. And if there is, is it for the better or for the worse? From my research it seems the 2 private dips take less than 2 years to complete and is more industry ready than the one at NYP

Feel free to voice your honest opinion it would really help me in deciding. as what some of you guys have said, yes i'm a very indecisive person. I also do know that being indecisive is my downfall, not making a decision is the worse decision but I can't help it
