A littoral combat ship (LCS) is a relatively small surface vessel designed for littoral warfare in near-shore operations. Not meant for blue water (ocean) operations.

it was designed a long time ago ........ littoral combat means send and extract a helicopter or rhib filled with special forces .... means any small facility can be "touched" by them with a sudden raid

current times too many truck-mounted anti-ship missiles ........ they getting cold feet having sailors on the frontline without sufficient magazine of air-defence missiles
