Helping a friend to post

He has been using his gtx 1080 with no issues. Bought about 2 weeks ago.

Currently 2 days ago, monitor black screen showing no signal. But computer able to boot to desktop as he can remote into the desktop. Monitor will den show the dvi input word appear, but screen is black.

So he took out the gpu, swap dvi cable to on board dvi port and it boots up normally with monitor displaying.

Plug back gpu again black screen. Tried clear cmos, reseat ram etc and still same issue. After numerous try, suddenly with the gpu plugged in and dvi cable connected to gpu dvi port, there was display on the monitor but there are colorful horizontal lines on the monitor. Went to device manager and saw that the display adapter for the gtx adapter got code 43.

Googled code 43 and was told could be driver issue. Uninstall nvidia drivers and install back still same issue. Issit a gpu problem? Or a pcie slot problem.

The board is a sli capable board. Did try once to put the gpu in the 2nd pcie slot and still black screen.

For this scenario, issit normally a gpu problem? Mobo is new too.

550 watts. It is sufficient as he was using for 2 to 3 weeks perfectly fine.

Try to use DDU(google if you don't know what it is) and remove all drivers using onboard igpu. Then reset bios(no harm trying) and re insert your card. Restart pc and see if it works.

Hmm previously didnt use ddu but just do a normal control panel uninstall of drivers. Didnt update bios. Will ask him to try and update.

well its still best that he do a ddu on his PC. to make sure that u have a clear all unless driver remains and make clean driver installation.
