Hi, enquiring for a Friend because I can't think of the issue nor attend to him physically. My Friend recently built a new rig

H170M-PRO iirc
i5 6400 on stock hsf
Low profile ram 8x1 not sure what brand
Asus gtx 960 turbo

Issue is his monitor cannot get signal from mobo and the gpu. Gpu is removed when testing for mobo. System runs fine no shut down. Just got no video signal. Tried reseating gpu and clear cmos. Com was working with drivers(?) included in the 960 turbo disc at videopro on the day of installation. OS is running on w10, likely 64 bits. Any idea bros?

Tried vga on board and hdmi on gpu. Both no signal, monitor confirmed working cuz he tested with a laptop.

Yes even mobo gpu got no signal. System was working fine when driver and OS installed by videopro at their shop

but i wonder who build the pc for him :s13:

anyway did u guys really saw the process when he was fixing? as well as shown u that the OS is installed onto the pc?

another thing is that check the whole mobo see if anything lose or not.

No I wasn't there. But my friend was there when they installed the OS and Drivers for him. It was working when he lugged the rig home.

Yeah I'm waiting for his reply now. Just pretty puzzled why system suddenly no display even though system was fine at the shop

Oh well another qns for him, when did he realise it isn't working? So that I can figure out which scenario I can rule out.

friend brought back to videopro. shop personnel says 'mobo wasn't mounted properly' so the integrated gpu and gpu couldnt get any signal so he disassembled and assembled. (i assembled the system for him but found out my OS installation corrupted so he had to go back to get his OS and drivers the other day)

now i have a qn, if mobo not mounted properly i'd assume that it will short with the case, but system was running and did not crash, which means shorting with case is not possible.. right? then is it possible for any 'improper mobo mounting' to affect integrated gpu and gpu signal? (I have built 4 systems thus far and have not met any issues like this, any experts pls enlighten!)

That's the issue here. I assembled the system for my friend at my place on the day of purchase, system was done and I was in to the Windows installation. I had a bootable USB drive with me to install the OS but it was corrupted. System was connected through DVI to my monitor so we were able to turn on and install the OS but failed cuz of my bootable thumbdrive corruption. Then afterwards he went back to Videopro to install the OS and drivers, everything was working well.

Thus my question is, if the mobo was really improperly mounted, then why did it work on the day of installation at my place and at the shop, and suddenly not work today, and what could the 'improper mounting' said by personnel affect the video signals of mobo and gpu?

PS: my friend wanted to build the system himself because he wanted to try so I taught and assisted on the progress

I assembled with my friend, then he went to reassemble because the dude said it wasn't mounted properly. Yeah. I could see post on my DVI monitor at my place, and at the shop on that day. Just today suddenly no post no signal.

As in at VP he just bought everything and did not do any assembling on day of purchase. So assembling happened at my house, then he went over back to SLS to install the OS and everything nice. Just today cannot post cuz no signal so he went back to SLS and they said mobo not mounted properly.

Sorry very big misunderstanding here, he did not go back to VP but instead went to another PC repair shop in SLS to install his OS and fix it today
