Hi all,
I have built a rig with a Palit gtx660ti jet stream gpu. Everything thing is fine but when I installed the latest driver for this gpu at Palit website, it will stop displaying when loading into windows 7. Whenever I restart the PC, it will startup normally and when it shows windows logo, it stopped displaying. May I know what went wrong? Is there any steps that I missed?

You only did one thing wrong- tampering with the current stable driver by updating to the latest one. Latest driver will cause compatibility issues at times and bring about instability to the system. Remove your gpu and use the igpu from your cpu to remove all the previous gpu drivers installed. Put your gpu back in and install the previous version of the driver/insert back the cd rom that comes with your gpu.

My system doesn't come with a cd rom, therefore I have to dl via web to install. The version is the only one at the website. That's the only driver I installed after installing the gpu.

The cd rom that comes with your gpu.. inside the palit gtx 660ti box?

I run using the mobo's onboard gpu, uninstalled the driver, restart and run the gtx660 gpu, it works without the driver. Will it be ok to run the gpu without driver? Will I be utilize it's performance?

sorry i do not agree with the replies here. i update my graphic drivers frequently because it offers fps performance as i often play the latest games. i NEVER have any problems. the rules i follow:

1. never upgrade driver. always uninstall and delete the nvidia folder first. dont be lazy when it tells you to reboot you say no.
2. when a new driver comes out, give it 1 week before updating to ensure no weird issues. i am sure most people would recall ati pulling out 1 driver update because it will overheat some cards and it literally burnt the card
3. never download graphic drivers from anywhere but nvidia's/amd's website.

Do note that you have missed out a variable which is the mobo. Your mobo driver combi can work for you, but it might not work/be compatible with the other mobos.

bro, wat is ur mobo, latest mobo onboard gfx is still decent den using discrete card w/o driver.
gfx card w/o driver playing game will have problem, benchmark u will tell.
go fix e problem, could b u nvr plug in power to gfx dat y driver starts it will crash(not sure, most if not all, if power not plug in will have warning), else it is e gfx is problematic dat nid to send for repair.
if not software driver issue den it is e hardware, some circuitry is failing.

Sorry I mean I dun have DVD drive in my rig

c if u can copy cd driver into thumbdrive , ur driver cd could be more stable(tested in the making) cos sometime download files may have problem in the process.
oem maker of gfx card can b different from one another, so one driver version may suit one but not e others.
oem card maker test and fix their product b4 launch in e process , however if it is chipset problem it may find some bugs later by it chipset supplier like amd/nvidea which will be patch by them if related/necessary.
