My GTX 970 is getting a bit long in the tooth. I mainly play PUBG nowadays in 1080p. I have a Predator Gsync monitor that supposed to be able to hit 240Hz. Currently getting 90 to 100fps with everything on low.

Should I go for a 1070ti or a 2070? Originally looking at a 1080ti but it's out of stock everywhere in Sim Lim.

if you are looking at 1080ti can consider the 2080 :) Almost same performance. Abit more expensive for the 2080.

PUBG is a poorly optimized game, don't waste your money.

same case as me... waiting for coming 1080/Ti series stock release or 20 series price drop... now playing COD4 at lowest setting ... still getting 60+ FPS :s13:

Those can't fit my Corsair 250D. The only one that supposedly fits is the Gigabyte 1080ti OC, but I can't find that anywhere, or at a price that's competitive to buying brand new.

I'm also looking at 1070ti because I'm gaming at 1080p, not 1440p. 1080ti strictly speaking is overkill for my current needs, no?

Isn't the 1080ti rumoured to no longer be in production or something like that?

Not rumor. The GTX 1080Ti stopped production a couple of months ago. Inventory in the channel has more or less cleared up. That's why there are fewer GTX 1080Ti available for sale now.

Thanks for the information. I've decided to just get the 2080 then. Thanks!

Hi,

I believe there are still some 10 series cards stashed up somewhere...

Hi bro based on your needs and the current market, I would recommend looking for an RTX 2070. The amount of CUDA cores are just about right to power your 1080p resolution up to 27” monitor size. They also have tensor cores which will aid in future AI demands and some anti aliasing work. Memory controllers and memory cache are also more refined as compared to a GTX 1070 so you will feel like a major beast upgrading from a GTX 970 to an RTX 2070.

An RTX 2070 will guarantee you hit the server FPS ceiling of PUBG at 1080p High Settings provided you have at least an i7-7700K overclocked to 4.8 GHz and that you have a dual channel ram config. Anything lesser will lead you to a CPU clock frequency bottleneck. Hope this helps and all the best!!

Was in the same situation as you. Had the MSI GTX970 Twinfrozr, cannot deny that was one of the more valuable investment back then.

However, I recently pulled the trigger on the MSI GTX 1070Ti for only $400 instead. Just couldn't justify for that $800 price tag for the RTX 2070 that's worth a PC
