So I'm using an ASUS GTX 980 and I notice that the card is slanting at one end. Kinda worried that in the long term, there will be problems. I looked at the card today and it looked as though it was slanting even more than before.

Heard that there is such a thing as GPU support stand. Anyone using? Or if there are any other suggestions on how to prevent slanting, that would be helpful...

you can either get a support stand

CPU Cooler & Graphics Cards Weight Support Adjustable Stand - modDIY.com

or get a 90deg rotated casing like Silverstone RV01

RAVEN by SilverStone

or a casing that the mobo lies flat and you GPU stands up.

or

Mercury S8 - CaseLabs Store

So far I have not heard of any damage caused by gpu drooping though.

Thanks allhomme. Yah I probably go for the support stand coz I like my current case (H440). Still, would rather not add anything "extra" if I can help it.

like boobs if too big will sag, its normal

Yah lah...but boobs sag, will get back pain. GPU sag, motherboard may warp? I dunno, I am just assuming. Anyone with sagging boobs, sorry I mean, sagging GPU, for a very long time (like, a few years) and no issues so far?

Yeah, for US$40 I'd expect a more polished product.

The white rod looks like one of those spring-loaded light-duty curtain rods for door frames you can get at Daiso. Might blend in better if sprayed matte black or even powder coated.

It just occurred to me. The rod is like a "bra for GPUs". Boobs need bra, GPU need rod...

Been looking at other forums as well, and some people don’t seem to suffer from this problem, even though they have an equally heavy GPU. So I’m starting to wonder whether the mobo is a factor? As in, if the mobo isn’t resilient enough, it can’t properly carry the weight of the GPU?

I'm probably not making any sense...

That's why I got a HORIZONTAL MOBO Case.
Cos I don't like seeing my CPU HEATSINK, RAM and GPU fighting against GRAVITY.

HAF XB EVO supports full ATX MOBO.

Apologies for the poorly taken photos. But the point is...you can see that the GPU is slanting.

My g1 gaming also going downwards. Putting a pole in the middle is quite unsightly.

Actually your GPU will be 1st to warp rather then having a PCIE slot die on you. Almost all current gen gpus face this problem. Higher heat means bigger cooler means more weight. So we have an increasing trend of case manufacturers coming out with horizontal mobo mounts.

The Silverstone TJ11 was a trendsetter back in the day when they came up with the 90deg rotated mounts but it didn't catch on. Don't know whether is it becasue Silverstone patented the design or is it more difficult to produce such case.

A ghetto method is to find some fishing string and tie it to the top of your case.
