GPU temperature.

Hi, I've been wondering if my gpu is running too hot as I keep having a notification from NZXT's cam software saying my gpu is running at 83 degrees which is not very good for the gpu.

any advice?

If 83deg under heavy loads like benchmark/games, that it's normal. Tweak a more aggressive fan curve and lower your temp limit to 75 or 80deg.

sadly, it was just playing dota.

Try capping the game fps to your monitor refresh rate.
Monitor your gpu using gpu-z instead of cam.
Tweak your gpu fan curve more aggressively.
If your gpu is new, maybe consider to rma it.

Tweak more aggressive fan curve. 30deg to 25%, 40deg to 40%, 50deg to 50%, 60deg to 65%, 70deg to 75%, 80deg to 100% fan speed.

Then monitor the Temps again when you're playing Dota.

i tried to tweak the fan curve instead of leaving it at "Auto" in the Asus AI3 software.

However when gaming, the fan would suddenly spike and spin damn fast and loud then suddenly back to the usually "medium-ish" speed.

i'm wondering if my graphic card is about time to up lorry

is there a gpu temp monitor graph? check if there was a real gpu temp inc associated with the fanspeed inc...

what case are you using? do you have enough airflow on the GPU? considering that your card aint a blower type, the heat is being dump inside the case. if you dont have a good enough circulation, your card will simply suck that same heated air back to the fins.

i'm using the phanteks P400 tempered glass. I've 2 fans at the top and 1 at the back. all exhaust out. then my kraken x62 is mounted at the front.

when i start the game, you can hear the gpu fan getting louder then from the software i see the temperature being in the 65ish range but when the game starts, it rises to 80ish and hover around 81-84 degrees until i close the entire dota software.

Mine recently keep having notification that my cpu and gpu usage is100% when i am in dota. it has never happened before

i'm suspecting that too. cos to be honest the Cam software is buggy af. the in-game overlay would also shift to bottom right all of a sudden when playing.

but the problem is my gpu fan would spin a lot louder means it's true that my gpu is running hot isn't it?

could it be a problem with my cpu case? meaning Phanteks P400 got poor ventilation design?

Uninstall cam and use gpu-z to monitor instead. The cam software is buggy. I don't incline to believe the gpu have issue though there's a small chance of it.

cud be some kind of sensor collision between cam & aisuite, try removing cam to test as others suggested
or, if ur custom setting has sharp fanspeed increase to 100% fan at 82-84c, then its ur setting - see if u can set temp hysteresis like 3-4c
