GPU upgrade advise needed..

Well, cut a long story short.. feel lag in games even though upgrade cpu from 4770k to 1800x. Run a lot of mods in S3 so not sure if its cpu or gpu bound.
Games such as BF1 also showing signs of lag

Currently running a 1800x at stock clocks and RX580 Gaming X and gaming at 1080p..

Was looking at the 2080Ti but the price seems too high when 7nm seems like coming soon in probably 1 yr time
Should i go for another MSI RX 580 and wait till next gen? Is there any place that still sell it? Cos i see like mostly not listed in price list le

For 1080p gaming looking at 2080ti is just plain overkill. A 1070 GTX would be a significant upgrade over RX580 for 1080p

I think now very uncertain. After the keynote yesterday, the price of the 2080s is a big turn off. I feel if can try to wait for the review of the new gpu before deciding.

You can track the CPU and GPU usage during gaming to ascertain the bottleneck.

I doubt it makes sense to get another RX580. It would probably be better to sell that RX580 and get a single GPU instead.

i doubt will be much of an improvement bah over 1080TI for what they are asking for.. . Plus 7nm is a year away so with the high price.. might as well wait till next gen.

I know going single gpu is better but since most high end GPUs are now overpriced and 7nm coming soon just looking for a cheap upgrade either way. Want to save as much money for 7nm upgrade but also needing a bit of grunt gpu horsepower wise.

Assuming you pay $400 for another RX580 and your present RX580 has a resale value of $300 (conservatively). That's $700 invested in the GPUs. Might as well pay another two or three hundred and go for GTX 1080 or GTX 1080Ti or RTX 2070.

hmm cos dun think might get much if i sell and no demand since crypto crashed . If go for 1080/Ti now might not have enough for 7nm (considering how much Nvidia jacked up the price for 2080Ti which could point to future trends)

Same situation as you but running RX480 at 1440p. Was so hoping to upgrade to the new Nvidia cards and well the pricing is a turn off.

Plan B for me is a 1080 or if i can find a good priced 1080ti and skip this gen.

Just grab gtx1070ti or gtx1080 from people who are upgrading to rtx series. It will suffice your needs till 7nm cards hit the market.

AMD may release the 7nm Navi GPU for mid-range cards first, it's going to take some time before we see the high-end variants.

If you don't need Freesync, get a GTX 1070 Ti else get a Vega 56 (undervolt and +50% power limit). Both will be good enough for 1440p gaming at mid to high settings or highest for 1080p gaming.

Try to sell your RX580 to fund the purchase and look around for second hand cards (with warranty) for bargains if you are comfortable with buying second hand and/or mining cards.
