I'm currently using a MSI R7850 TWIN FROZR 2GD5/OC with a Andyson G530 PSU.

I would like to upgrade to a MSI GTX 960 (as I'm staying near Corbell easier for warranty issues), but after looking at the price list there are a few variants (Armour/OC/Gaming).

Not very sure what are the difference. Would appreciate it if someone can enlighten me as I compared them on the MSI website but don't really see any difference.

And after checking my PSU I realized that there is only a 6pin connector and the gtx 960 uses a 8pin connector. Is there a adapter I can buy or must I change the whole PSU and is the 530watt PSU enough?

In short:

1) Differences in MSI GTX 960 variants (Armour/OC/Gaming). Should I get the 4gb version instead of the 2gb version?

2) Andyson 530Watt PSU enough for a GTX 960 and is there a 6pin to 8pin connector.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

How old is ur psu? What is ur budget for gpu? 960 price point -performance isnt as great as 285/280x or 970. if u can, get 970, if not get 285 or 280x.

Every gpu will come with a molex top 6/8 pin for gpu. U can use that to power ur gpu.

The PSU is about 5~6 years old.

My budget is around 400~450.

If that's the case which GPU should I get from a price to performance ratio perspective.

I'm using a cooler master elite 310 casing I think, and the maximum length is only 275mm, so I'm afraid some cards might not fit into the casing.

Is zotac brand reliable? I can't seem to find zotac on some price list.

Comparing from bizgram price list

MSI GTX 960/Gaming - $329/$359
MSI GTX 970/Gaming - $509/$589

Is the difference between the two cards so much that the difference of more than $150 is justifiable? :(

Lazada selling zotac at $488 excluding discount coupon

I'm open to buying online, after seeing their website and it has local warranty. :s13:

What are the discount coupons I can use? So tempted to buy that zotac 970 now. :o

I think there's the M1 18 percent off but I think already stopped liao. Check the lazada thread and see if any of the coupons still work :s13:

970 is a huge upgrade over your 7850 that's for sure. Got my asus strix 970 for 500 and worth it for sure.

If your PSU old, better to just upgrade even though I think your PSU should be able to support. 970 isn't power hungry at all.

I think we're past the days where we need the really high wattage PSU's unless you are going to have lots of HDD's and GPU's :s13:
