I was using palit gtx460 when horizontal lines suddenly appeared in my screen. then BSOD when reboot. Warranty over unfortunately.

Any gurus here know a way to fix this or I've no choice but to get a new gpu?

Thanks for the advice.

I never heard of the oven method or dismantling the fan to reapply the paste. Hopefully either one method work.

Anyone knows aside from SLS where got sell thermal paste?

sorry to hear about it.
I suspect the latest update from nvidia may be the root cause.

Hi

Just a quick update

I remove the fan and heatsink. The existing thermal paste looks ok. Anyway degreased and reapply new paste. Still the same problem.

I think not much chance left for salvaging this card. I'll try baking in oven for 375 degrees / 10 mins. But not pinning any hopes high on this method.

most likely get a budget card to use first

if it's a driver issue, try to uninstall and use driversweeper to clean up all the remaining nvidia drivers then reinstall the drivers again.

thanks

I actually tried this earlier. It doesn't work for me.

i tried rollback to the below driver versions.

258.96
260.99
276.14
280.26
285.38

maybe others will have some luck in this method
