actually it's GOMO, not Singtel. paiseh as I anyhow use an example.

I just got off the phone with Grab CSO. kinda play taichi. they say it's GOMO who needs to release the $1 back to my wallet. but when I ask GOMO CSO earlier they say it is up to Grab (or "the bank") to request for refund.

dunno who is right, who is wrong.

anyway, Grab says need to wait 14 *working* days, if not refunded, apply for chargeback and they will follow up.

so have to wait up to 3 weeks to see what happens :s22:


the merchant can initiate the refund, but a lot of merchants don't do it, just don't claim the fund from the card network.

Then the card issuers have to get back the unclaimed fund.

How do you explain (last time) Revolut hold for $0.50 was refunded almost instantly to Grab? Still Grab holding on to it or merchant?

Grab is holding on to it. Their system is still new and unstable and refunds don't get processed properly sometimes. Probably an api call error somewhere. Happened to me twice now. Once for MyRepublic, once for wechat. Both times, merchants have already refunded more than a month ago, but Grab won't give back the money until i call them to complain.

I also have a couple of $1 $1 deducted which I don't remember seeing the refunds. Even want to scroll back to check, there's a limit to how far one can scroll. They're gone with the wind.

It'll be good if we are issued monthly statement but too bad we don't

Yes. If you don't call Grab, they will makan the money. I do it, even for wechat's 8 cents refund. it's a matter of principle.

I have 2 x $1 held by Grab. I called Grab. Cs replied me with an email saying is Singtel who hold my $2 and ask me to wait for 14 work days. I don't understand why they can't just block the transaction instead of needing to deduct 1st then ask ppl to wait for 14 work days.. very irritating

They should set in such a way for refund to be auto and immediate instead of holding our $ liddat. How I wish i can charge them interest

Most of the charges were pre charge. Fave will return immediately.
Shopee will surely return but takes weeks.

My current singtel case wasn't pre charge. I have failed payment blocked by donno singtel or grab. Thus $1 being held

I think it's applicable as long as you want to add the card for payment to a billing organization / retailer you will need to authenticate the card so there's this pre-charge.

how many $1 Grab has makan-ed I wonder… but I will check back after 3 weeks to see if it's refunded.

My was too far back to scroll. I just tried. I can only scroll until july 2019. Any earlier transactions are cut off

I have learnt not to use Grappay mastercard for any transaction that works on pre-authorisation or where I forsee that there is possibility of refund or possible dispute. Have stopped using it for simplygo and qoo10. Now I only use it at counters or to pay bills online.

The last straw was for giant online. Giant online (Watsons and NTUC too) works such that they pre-authorise when you order and they do actual charge after delivery. Works well for credit card. But Grabpay master being a prepaid card is charged on order. Then Giant inform me one day before delivery that most items out of stock. Their email (template) say not to worry only final amount for delivered items will be charged. But the fact is full payment has been made already. After calling giant and Grab and waiting few weeks in between the calls (because they say need processing time at least 14 days). Finally Grab put up chargeback yesterday and email say can takeup to 50 days to investigate disputes.

These online purchases works on pre-authorisation procedure. The process is simple for credit cards. But when it comes to prepaid cards like Grabpay mastercard it becomes a nightmare.

I don't find Grab CSO to be particularly knowledgeable. Ask how come my payment cannot go through, they cannot give an answer. In the end, find out myself that it is over the $10k limit.

For qoo10 i will just buy qcoins.. to get more rebates.. :o but if topup grab doesn't count towards the minimum spending for UOB one.. then i don't see the point now..

I have different experience with all these pre-auth/refund charges....

Pre-auth charge from Ryde refunded instantly
Amount refunded from Redmart took 4-5 days
Pre-auth charge from Wechat is 3 weeks now
Pre-auth charge from Gojek is 4 days now

I use for Shopee and Amazon
No issues

I avoid qoo10 as sometimes might have cancellation if item out of stock and there might be encounters where seller just cancel order. I have also done cancellation myself almost immediately after placing order. Would rather buy qoo10 Giftcard then directly use to purchase items.

I see that it can be use to pay for online purchases.
Can this be use for those purchases made in malls? Those payment terminals? I saw the above msg like some issue?

Physical card? Can use like any other mastercard
