I went to see. They really put the sign very prominently. Got big picture of the Grabpay Mastercard. With words :

Grabpay Card payment currently not accepted. We apologize for any I convenience caused.

Already display until like that think don't make things difficult for the aunties. Because if error they still need to punch somethings to retry.
the punching is actually no different from redoing because there's an error with other cards payment.

Guys, I know I am like more than 3 years late to the game but better be late than never. :o

Got a few questions hoping experts here can help out:

1) So it seemed need to get more than 4500 pts to get to platinum tier within a 6 months cycle. Am I right that if I am basic tier now, I need to accumulate and spend 4500/3 = $1500 within 6mths to get to this tier? And then after that to maintain the tier, I need to do 4500/6 = $750 within 6mths to qualify for next renewal? Or am I over simplifying this thingy?...

2) Looking at this FAQ, it seemed only transport and grabfood related transactions can count towards such points accumulation. So if I don't buy from grabfood and don't take any of the grab vehicles, and I only use grab wallet for online shopping and offline retail merchants payment, how can I still progresively upgrade to platinum or is it not possible at all?

3) Does using grab wallet to pay bills on e-AXS app earn any point?

4) What do you guys mainly use your grab cashback for?
As member and silver now earns 3pts per $, spend $400 first to get 1200pts to achieve Gold.
Then spend 3500/4.5 approx $778 to get Platinum.
So total spend about $1,180 ( instead of $1,500 ) to get platinum.

2. Every retail or online transactions will earn points ( as long as not on exclusion list )

3. AXS is on exclusion list, so no points there

4. Occasionally points back ( 25%,30%, etc ) and discounted (50%,70% etc ) promotions for Grabfood Capitaland vouchers, Grabrides etc .
Or if needed just use to offset Grab rides and deals that are suitable for you.

Use for Fair price scan and go at store still ok but I will avoid using this card for delivery. Because if have out of stock item, more troublesome than other bank issued credit cards.

For other credit cards, the order amount is put on hold and actual amount deducted after delivery. For Grabpay mastercard, the order amount is deducted at order. If there is out of stock item, there would be refund. Not sure if Grab's refund process has improved. My past experience was took a very long time and have to chase and even raise dispute.

I find that many (vendors, merchants, regular folks) uses
- Grapay (scan QR)
- GPMC
interchangeably but they are in fact 2 different forms of payment.

Grabpay QR has the standalone method and the SGQR integrated QR code method but ultimately still require a GrabPay Merchant account

By covering up the QR code behind, I suspect it is the Grabpay/SGQR having issues

Most of the time I use PayWave (Samsung Pay) to get
(1) Samsung points
(2) Grab points
(3) AMEX / UOB cash rebates for topping up GrabPay

So if I next pass by OCK, I will likely ask to settle using Samsung Pay.
If the attempt using GPMC fails, I just tap again using another card

As mentioned by others, GPMC rides directly on the Visa/MC network.
But the GrabPay (SGQR) is unique, hence you can see different merchants, while using SGQR, they accept different eWallets.

Of course simplest reason is that OCK GrabPay merchant account is having issues. Cannot see / track payment. But still not stopping GPMC as that triggers acceptance through the Visa / MC network.

2) I think the FAQ somehow not accurate. payment with GPMC or online shopping etc, should count.

3) no

4) you mean the points?

Are you aiming for plat for a reason? or looking to get it for the sake of getting? Cause the perks don't seem to be that fantastic unless you are already going to use it anyway

Yes I meant the cashback points, what do most people use it for? I know one can use it to redeem rides and some food ordering (?) but that's as far as what I can interpret just looking at the app's content. Agree with you from the look of it inside the app it seemed the perks are quite limited on what can be use for the reward pts? Hope experts here can share more insight on what else is possible, especially when their faq is not so updated.

Aiming for plat so that I can combine it with absolute card (yet to apply depending on my qns in the other thread which I saw you also replied to) to get the best out of it with a combined 2.9% cashback. See article for backgrounder: https://blog.seedly.sg/best-cashback-credit-cards/

Thank you so much for these helpful info. These are what I needed to know, and now I just need to figure out each of the perks/deals if they will be useful or apply to me to decide next step. (y)

the banner to track your annual spend appear only if you spent 75% of the limit
