If you don’t have transfer function, I guess you can still send money to your friends with money top up by credit cards.

If your friends have transfer function already, they should be able to transfer to bank?

Another way to cash out AMEX 1.5% cash back.

Users without transfer function top up wallet with AMEX and send money to friends with transfer function. And friends with transfer function transfer money to bank accounts.

Try at your own risk. You and friends may be banned by both Grab and AMEX and money recovered from your banks.

Once you get the transfer feature, AMEX top ups do not show up in the transferable balance section as far as I can tell. The only way to get the cash I just topped up out of the wallet seems to be to spend it - every option that involves a transfer of some sort now points to your "transferable balance", which can only come from the other sources like local debit cards, bank transfers, paynow transfers, etc. The scenario you speak of would require you to know when Grab is rolling out the feature to you and your accomplice, and for you to never update your Grab application perhaps.

Anyway, with the new feature Credit Card and Foreign debit card top ups are retains the old model of money in and no way out besides spending it, with the added restriction of not being able to send it out to anyone else as the balances for that feature now points to "transferable balance" instead of the overall grab wallet balance - for people who are already actively managing their grab wallet balances with this point in mind are basically not affected.

If the "transferable balance" can be treated as usable balance for grabpay, allowing payments to get grabpoints, then it isn't a bad feature to include. It offers users options, even if the benefits they can derive aren't earth-shaking in usefulness/attractiveness. Besides, there is always a segment of people who refuse to touch Credit Cards but aren't adverse to using Grabpay (I know of one such person personally)

Should be unaffected. I'll probably give it a go later at the hawker centre, since I have no transferable balance at this point, and only money topped up from my credit card.

I know people who will almost never verify their Grab accounts with MyInfo.

Certainly they will not get the transfer feature.

I don't think leaving an account unverified via MyInfo would stop Grab from rolling out the new feature to their app.

That said, if they are happy to leave a big loophole to be exploited, then they should be ready to be swarmed and suffer whatever losses they have to shoulder from it. I'm thinking AMEX probably doesn't outright care about it so long as Grab still says the merchant fees and MAS doesn't come knocking.

just wondering, have you activate the VPA with Grab? i didn't activate yet - although I've done the facial recognition to verify my account. so I'm wondering if that's the reason I'm not seeing the 'Transfer' option.

I've less than $10 in my Grab wallet. if want to transfer back to bank I need to top up above $10 first before emptying it seems...

Update: finally the Transfer option shows up! And yes, I can transfer below $10!
