Is Paylater similar to Grab Pay topup which is usually excluded by bank credit cards (except AMEX)?

Or is it an eligible MCC?

I just redeemed 20 sets of 5,000 Star$ at 2,500 Grab points. Quick grab while stocks last.
i think that's not the wisest advise on MM. most ppl wait for the pointsback (unless small amount to round up your purchase or urgently need to pay smth), not during normal days redeem.

Should wait for the points back.. lol

Agreed…..

While points back would make the deal even sweeter, it is usually out so fast that I "think" I only managed it once, months back. That said, I started using GrabPay seriously (and accumulating Grab Points) this March, after I signed up the Tru Cashback from Amex. Even then, with the monthly challenges and frequent use, I typically have over 100,000 points in my wallet. Of the rewards, I find the Star$ most "liquid" and can be used to exchange a wide range of products at the malls.

Again, I am not disagreeing I could have stretched and multiply the rewards if I patiently wait for the next points back and try my luck but I am happy to have an additional $100 to spend for Christmas on hand. One thing to remember about rewards redemption, the exchange value, terms can change or terminate any time.

I guess situations differ from person to person. I think accumulating too much Grab Points at anytime is in fact a risk so everytime I hit above 100,000 points, I try to clear some off. I think I should be able to clear at least 1 or both challenges (Nov and Dec) which likely means I will have another 40,000 points before the end of the year, and that is not including the points earned for those $4,000 worth in transactions. Last but not least, I am also getting 1.5 % in cash rebates from Amex, sometimes more.

Today vouchers redeemed in 9 months = 85 ($425) with over 50,000 points left.

With your amount of spending charged to credit card (based on points clocked), wouldn't you get more cash rebate from other credit cards ? Eg UOB One card or other cash rebate cards.

Simple answer... Lazy.

For context, before Covid, I focused on Miles cards, Citi Premier Miles.

Their miles do not expire and have the widest range of exchange partners
My logic then was that no matter how high the cash rebates are, redeemed air tickets are usually worth even more. I was also accumulating miles to treat family to aspirational travel trips which I would not have spent cash on.

When Covid hit, I decided to stop the miles accumulation and switched to cash rebates. But I do not want to track spend category, maximum value, minimum spent etc. My first cashback card then was Standard Chartered Unlimited cashback, pretty simple and easy to use but there are categories that was exempted.

Then this March, I read about how to leverage on Amex + Grabpay and the rest was history. When I first signed up for the Amex in March, the welcome offer was huge. $270 ($250 + $20) CapitaVouchers plus the 3% for 1st $5,000 spent. Plus Amex have no limitations and when combined with the GrapBay, it seems like the best balance between "most" rewards for "least" effort.

How come few people interested in Grab Pay later ?

Anyone got the $30 off from first instalment ?

If I activate Grab Pay later, it will not affect future use of the Grabpay Mastercard right ? Only direct use of Grabpay will be directed to Grab Pay later by default ?

Wanted to use it at shop at Fraser's Mall. Their promo is $10 digital vr for min $50 spend. But Grab app says the $30 off first instalment is online merchants. So won't apply to this right ?

Also don't understand Grab app conditions says must add voucher under "add offer" before confirming payment. Is this part of the conditions referring to Grab Pay later or something else

What do you mean ? AMEX cannot be the linked card for Grab Pay later ?

In the end did not activate. Wait and see if they offer better promo next year when they kick off digital banking.

grab not reli promoting tis hard enuff, i guess.
$30 off 1st instalment only for New User for PayLater, even if u used PayLater PostPaid (not instalment), u're considered non-virgin alr. ")
Made the mistake of using the 35% grabfood self-pickup using PayLater PostPaid be4 realising abt this $30 off promo.
nope, it'll not affect ur Grab Mastercard, just an additional payment option beside ur MasterCard or Grab Wallet. u can choose the payment option u want.

yap, only some online retailers offer PayLater PostPaid, PayLater Instalment or both options at cart-out page.

u nid to key in the NEWPAYLATER promo code at grab payment interface after u've chosen grab as payment option during cart-out page.

paylater has nth to do with Amex. u only nid to link a credit card for them to auto topup ur grab wallet when the balance isn't enuff to clear ur PayLater payments on due date.
What I am trying to say is when I want to activate pay later, they ask me which card to link. They are either my visa or Mastercard which I have linked n I dun see my amex card. Have u tried? Alternatively, what is the way to link up my amex and still get the pay later sign up promo they r trying to push to me?

Can I check if I remember correctly that the daily online transaction is 5k? But single online transaction is $500 or also 5k?
