Simple answer... Lazy.

For context, before Covid, I focused on Miles cards, Citi Premier Miles.

Their miles do not expire and have the widest range of exchange partners
My logic then was that no matter how high the cash rebates are, redeemed air tickets are usually worth even more. I was also accumulating miles to treat family to aspirational travel trips which I would not have spent cash on.

When Covid hit, I decided to stop the miles accumulation and switched to cash rebates. But I do not want to track spend category, maximum value, minimum spent etc. My first cashback card then was Standard Chartered Unlimited cashback, pretty simple and easy to use but there are categories that was exempted.

Then this March, I read about how to leverage on Amex + Grabpay and the rest was history. When I first signed up for the Amex in March, the welcome offer was huge. $270 ($250 + $20) CapitaVouchers plus the 3% for 1st $5,000 spent. Plus Amex have no limitations and when combined with the GrapBay, it seems like the best balance between "most" rewards for "least" effort.
Depends on your spending type actually,
unless your spending is mostly insurance, education, tax payments, and other generally excluded spending,
A general rebate card like UOB one (5% $2000 monthly spend) will be useful and give u more rebates than (AMEX+GPMC)
U shd keep GPMC as a card for specialized use (gov, LTA, tax) since there is a cap of $30,000 per year.

Hello!

Thinking of using Grabpay Mastercard to pay income tax and property tax via AXS

How to set it up?
Do we have to pay it all at one go or it can be a monthly recurring?
1) set up installment plan for income tax on iras app
2) manually pay monthly installment amount on AXS app/website at least 1 week before the deduction around 6th of each month

oh, UOB one spend of 500,1000,2000 count include for grab topup? or do you mean pay iras via axs directly with UOB One card?

grab topup and axs not counted to uob one. Think you misread his post.

Btw can pay iras or insurance via cardup/ipay using uob one for rebate, but incur fees.

Hmm I can only find option for GIRO, do we just select GIRO but manually pay via AXS each month and it'll know not to GIRO from the bank account and double bill?

grab not reli promoting tis hard enuff, i guess.
$30 off 1st instalment only for New User for PayLater, even if u used PayLater PostPaid (not instalment), u're considered non-virgin alr. ")
Made the mistake of using the 35% grabfood self-pickup using PayLater PostPaid be4 realising abt this $30 off promo.
nope, it'll not affect ur Grab Mastercard, just an additional payment option beside ur MasterCard or Grab Wallet. u can choose the payment option u want.

yap, only some online retailers offer PayLater PostPaid, PayLater Instalment or both options at cart-out page.

u nid to key in the NEWPAYLATER promo code at grab payment interface after u've chosen grab as payment option during cart-out page.

paylater has nth to do with Amex. u only nid to link a credit card for them to auto topup ur grab wallet when the balance isn't enuff to clear ur PayLater payments on due date.
how you know if you have use Paylater PostPaid before?

First time the challenge does not appear to my Grab account. Just to note that the past 2 previous PowerUp, I have hit both targets and gotten the rewards.
Will see if it appears in Jan 2022

Powerup up challenge my last month required spending $750 for 10,000 points. This month $1000 for 12,000 points.

$1000 I think I still can hit. Pay some bills in advance as I think I need to sit out next month if they increase further.
