Recently got a Nvidia GT545DE card from a friend. I tried to install it but encounter some issues, will appreciate if anyone can offer some advise..

First of all, after installing the card and on the computer, I noticed that the fan is not spinning. Suspect that there is no power so found a 6 pin connector from the PSU and connect to it. Now the fan spins.

Upon boot up, the monitor connected to the DVI port 1 have no display, so I tried installing the driver and restart the computer.

After the computer boot up, it appears fine for a while, then the screen starts to flicker for the few times, then a blue screen full of white text appears. The last few lines seems to be "core dump xx%......" then the computer reboots. And the situation is the same.. always kena a blue screen with white text.

Will appreciate if anyone can help on how to rectify this..

Some questions..

1. Does the card requires power supply? a 6 pin plug from the PSU?

2. Without installing a driver, is the connected monitor suppose to have no display? Bcoz from experience with other cards, there is always display even if no driver. Just that the display defaults to VGA or some native display resolution. But for this card, there is totally no display. Is it normal?

3. Is it likely that the card defective? or overheat? or likely to be some other issues?

4. I download the latest driver v320 and OS is win 7 64bit home premium.

Thanks for any input..

Blue screen of death is usually a hardware issue I think. Try rubbing the gold contacts and den re-sitting the gpu?
