Hi all,

I would like to enquire if that my graphic card is giving me the issue or is there any other possible reason. I have no issue with watching video on youtube or surfing the net. Thank you!

Did this start after updating the drivers?

Plausible diagnosis: the GPU is about to uplorry.

I am actually having low fps in game. So I went to remove the ram and stick it back. After which this happen. I saw there is a new update for the driver, so I updated it as well. But before the update this error already happen. I have no issue when I game in the afternoon only after I remove the rams then this actually happen.

Hmm...

Reseat ram and do a ram test to rule out ram errors. I suggest memtest86.

In addition, reseat the graphic card just for certainty.

My mobo only has one slot for graphic card but after reseating the ram now my games work! Thx for the help but I am wondering how can I actually improve the fps for my games?

Good to hear that it works now.

I assume that you have low frame rates and want to increase? If that is so, the source of bottleneck needs to be found. Please post the following information:

GT9600. Kind of aged.

The probable bottlenecks are either the CPU or GPU. I think you should post your system config for better assessment:

1. CPU -
2. GPU - GT 9600
3. RAM -
4. Monitor resolution -
5. Games - Dota 2? CS GO?

Thx to your help. I am able to play my games but I am having bad fps in dota 2 and sometimes it also crash for no reason. haha!

1. CPU - Q6600
2. GPU - GT 9600
3. RAM - 4gb but window xp 32bit only up to 3.25gb
4. Monitor resolution - 1024 x 786
5. Games - Dota 2? CS GO? for now thats about it.

Google-fu turns this up.

Results: CPU Benchmarks : Dota 2 Performance, Benchmarked

Results: High Details, 1920x1080 : Dota 2 Performance, Benchmarked

I usually don't like using THG but I'll be lazy for now.

Good news: DOTA 2 is multithreaded, so that Q6600 is well used.

Bad news: Even so, that Q6600 is outdated. Of course, you can always overclock it; the Q6600 (esp. G0 revision) has a overclocking reputation.

Your GT 9600 is probably on par with a GT 630, which is at the bottom of the second chart. Of course, those frame rates are for high settings at 1080, a resolution far more stressful than your current settings.

I'm assuming that your connection is not the cause of slowdowns.

Then again, it might be a game issue:

Dota 2 framerate drops.

----------------------

Given a C2D/C2Q based system, you have two options:

1. Get 2nd hand CPU and GPU off the bazaar. Of course, a more powerful GPU will probably consume more power, which your PSU must be able to handle.

2. Replace the entire system.

Wow! Thx for all the information. Appreciate it!

But wouldn't it be too costly to change my whole system for just 2 games which are not really that graphic intensive?

I am certainly sure my PSU will be able to support. Mine is 620W.

Are there any other ways which I can improve my system at a lower cost? :s22:

Initially I was tinking to get an additional 4gb rams, change to windows 7 64 bit, get a 7770 and an additional SSD 128gb.

Hmm, there are very few 620W PSUs out there. Is that a Seasonic, Antec, or Corsair? Those are fine. I sure hope that it is not this!

ACE 620W PSU with 12cm Fan and SATA 24-Pin Model - Grey: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

That SSD will certainly increase loading speeds (when the program is installed on it). Probably the most visible upgrade.

Yes, the 7770 will be a significant upgrade.

I don't think the extra 4GB will make a significant difference. However, don't stop yourself if the ram price isn't high. DDR2 or DDR3?

Hmm, just curious, what is your mobo model?

i used q6600 before. u can easily oc to 3.2ghz.

perhaps that alone could help u pretty much.

for gt 9600 u can oc 50mhz each time after a 3dmark test and try researching abit more to see whats the potential OC speed u can get from the GFX card.

Overclocking the Q6600 was an earlier suggestion. That is up to TS to decide. Alternative is to get a 2nd hand Q9550.

Hmmm. I think i will do the upgrade instead. Any recommendation for mobo+Cpu?

I will be keeping my psu, hhd, dvd. Best if can stick to a budget of 600 to 700 together with a 7770 and hopefully if able to squeeze in a plextor m5p 128gb as well.
