I am using a Toshiba Portege Z30 laptop, running on Intel HD Graphics 4400. When I plug in HDMI cable to project to a display via extended display, the resolution can go up to Full HD 1920x1080. However when I use a wireless presentation device instead of the HDMI cable to project via extended display, the resolution is stuck at 1280 x 720, and it is greyed off and I cannot change the resolution. The wireless presentation system's receiver is connected to the display while the transmitter is a USB dongle connected to my laptop. Can anyone help me find a way to allow Full HD resolution on the extended display while using the wireless presentation system?

Most importantly, can the device you're hooked up to display up to 1080? It could be limited to just 720.

normally when you connect via HDMI can select the display type (External Only, Dual/Split screen, Laptop Screen Only), so if the external can support 1920x1080 and you will be able to select 1920x1080 but now you connect via USB dongle, it is only using your own Laptop screen max resolution to display out, thus only able to reach 1280x720

if you connect via HDMI and select laptop display only, you will also only get 1280x720 only

Please correct me if im wrong, it shld be something like this.

The laptop's max resolution without any connections is 1366 x 768, but when i connect usb dongle and project to external display, resolution is 1280 x 720 and greyed off. Weird thing is when i try the same setup on a another laptop with intel HD graphics 4000 plus NVDIA GeForce GT 635M, i can get FHD on extended mode using the usb dongle.

Certain laptop regconise it as default monitor, certain laptop regconise as virtual monitor.

Question is how do we change the driver windows use to identify the extended display? As the properties tab is greyed off, there is no way to force feed a new/custom display driver into it.

If someone is able to pinpoint which registry file we can edit to modify the default/virtual monitor default resolution values..that will be really helpful.
