my 4 year old ati 5770 seems to have broken down and I am currently looking for a budget gfx to replace it since I'm not 100% sure it is the gfx giving me problems. (My mobo doesn't have integrated gpu) currently looking at gt 610. Would it be at least on par with my old gfx? Any other cheap gfx or brands I should be looking out for? thanks!

Are you intending to game?

If you are just looking for a replacement, 6770 may be available in tradepac. Or alternative card is 7730 at $88 in tradepac.

Challenger dont sell it. The only shops in heartlands is cyberactive. Which is not cheap.

Might wanna state what kind of games are you playing.

Their prices maybe 20~30 more iirc... If you want can just go mynextcom for delivery, though not sure if his service still as good as it used to be. Or alternatively can pm Fortran and ask if he is ok with delivering just a gpu. Anyway, if you want other gpu can consider gtx750, but I still think 7730 is enough ba... Cheaper also

Can try cyberactive. But they are around $10-$20 more depending on brands. And they are pretty much limited brands to choose from. And they do not have value type of gpus such as powercolor, leadtek, sapphire etc.

Can try finding Powercolor 7730 1gb. Or 7750 1gb $128. Both are sls pricing. Else it is $10-20 more expensive in cyberactive.

Other alternatives is to pm fortran. Or buy from mynextcomonline.com

thanks both for the advice :)

anyway, would my mobo matter in terms of choosing a suitable gpu that will perform better in a particular system?

For the 7730, is there a big diff between the 1gb and 2gb? seems like only the 2gb power color version is available.

But only the 2 GB version is available. 2gb is ddr3 and 1gb is ddr5

In most cases, we prefer 1Gb GDDR5 over 2Gb DDR3 because it is faster. Especially true for gaming.

I think 2Gb is for people who connects multiple monitors or load tons of textures, but I maybe wrong.

This is a special case of less is more.
