Nice article. It also talk about AMD and Intel heat spreader. Both are not perfectly flat and AMD tends to be convex while Intel concave.

Then you need to have sufficient thermal paste. Too much is no good, too little is no good as well.

Btw, for current CPUs, you will need the amount to be a bit larger than a grain of rice. If not, it will not spread enough to cover the hot spot.

Btw, I am not conventional type. I put a blob in the middle. I push down the heatsink and move it in a circle to spread it out. Btw, if the paste is too thick, I just apply a little bit of alcohol. thins out the paste and alcohol evaporates quickly.

Just squeeze abit on ur CPU , take a small tape stick on ur finger and spread the paste equally around ur CPU..
