Monster (2003)

Monster (2003) - IMDb

Based on the life of Aileen Wuornos, a Daytona Beach prostitute who became a serial killer.

I can't believe it's almost 10 years since "Monster" was released. I still remember it like it was yesterday. The performance of Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci that blew everyone away.

This is not just a film about a serial killer. It's about the process, her needs and her rationale behind her decision to be a serial killer. The emotional ride "Monster" brings you is an incredible but you'll stare at the credit in the end, soak up the feelings and decide what is your view on Aileen Wuornos.

I find this movie so so only... Dunno Wat's the hype

stunningly beautiful, well shot, with lots of wong kar wai's trademark. Zhang Ziyi display was so intense... The fight scenes are very beautiful, thoroughly changing the whole martial arts genre.

End of Watch (2012)

End of Watch (2012) - IMDb

Shot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.

"End of Watch" is one of those damn good movies that didn't really caught on in Singapore. Probably due to its release with other higher profile films like "Loopers", many gave it a miss. But anyone who watched it knew it is one of the best film in 2012.

Jake Gyllenhaal & Michael Pena's chemistry is flawless in this film. They were able to portray the friendship and bromance so well that it melts your heart. The script plays with your emotions, and it wouldn't be possible if not for the 2 actors.

This is probably the best police movie I've seen yet.

Big Fish (2003)

Big Fish (2003) - IMDb
The story revolves around a dying father and his son, who is trying to learn more about his dad by piecing together the stories he has gathered over the years. The son winds up re-creating his father's elusive life in a series of legends and myths inspired by the few facts he knows. Through these tales, the son begins to understand his father's great feats and his great failings

- Very good touching movie.
The ending scene is a tear jerker!

Quotes from movie
Senior Ed Bloom: There's a time when a man needs to fight, and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny is lost... the ship has sailed and only a fool would continue. Truth is... I've always been a fool.

[When meeting young Sandra Templeton for the first time]
Young Ed Bloom: You don't know me but my name is Edward Bloom and I love you.
Highly recommended.

This movie is superb. Really loved it. Recommend everyone! :s12::s12:

The Devil's Double (2011)

The Devil's Double (2011) - IMDb

A chilling vision of the House of Saddam Hussein comes to life through the eyes of the man who was forced to become the double of Hussein's sadistic son.

We've all heard of Saddam Hussein having a body double. We've all heard how much of a psychopath his son, Uday Hussein is. Now here's a movie about Uday and his body double, Latif.

I was attracted to this film the moment I learn of the plot. I wanted to know what goes on in the Hussein family. Why is Uday so sadistic? What kinda life does a body double lead? I got more than what I bargained for.

Dominic Cooper. He portrays both Uday and Latif. And some of you may not even notice it because he does such a great job that you seem to forget they are the same actor.

Even though the real life Latif's claim to be Uday's body double is disputed, "The Devil's Double" is not to be missed.

Cell 211 (2009)

Celda 211 (2009) - IMDb

The story of two men on different sides of a prison riot -- the inmate leading the rebellion and the young guard trapped in the revolt, who poses as a prisoner in a desperate attempt to survive the ordeal.[/COLOR]

Prison films. Who doesn't like a prison film? And a prison riot film at that. Most of you would have already decided to watch this film even before you finish reading the synopsis.

"Cell 211" is a great film. It satisfies everything you ever hoped for in a prison film. I wouldn't want it to be in any other languages other than the Spanish it's filmed in. The emotions can never be expressed in English.

There will almost definitely be an English remake coming up and I'll highly recommend you catch this before the remake.
