Lock the money up for 3 years but give only 1.96%? Etiqa eEASY Save V gives 2.68% for 6 years lock-in; at least "more pain for more gain"

This one seems to have upfront fees and end of 6years how much is not guaranteed. Seems like subject to changes/fees. Only 2.68% crediting is guaranteed. Illustration seems complicated.

I am open to be corrected. Trying to learn how to read products.

1.96% for 3 years isn't too shabby, previous highest was 2.05% FD 3 years by Maybank.

Not everyone is comfortable with 6 years. Also some of us already capped 100k with Etiqa.

FD if no choice got to break only lose interest. Premature break insurance will lose capital.

More and more short-term universal insurance nowadays offering ~2%pa for first $XX,XXX amount.. Obviously, it is "cheap" money for these companies to use for their own investment and to buy new customer base. Given the pathetic bank interest rates, we can expect more such universal insurance products.

All along they have such plans, but the return has been dropping from above 2.3%, to near 2% and now below 2%

It's a decent offer in the current environment. The usual caveats apply to these plans, namely that they can be useful if you have a specific, substantial, Singapore dollar spending goal 3+ years from now and would like to save for that purpose. Here are common examples:

1. A wedding.

2. A down payment on a home and/or home renovation.

3. A university tuition bill.

4. Starting a small business, buying out a partner's share of a business, or similar.

5. A "trip of a lifetime."

These fixed deposit-like endowment plans are not suitable for emergency reserve funds, and they should not be used for long-term saving/investing.
