Grout Shield Vs Davco

Hi anyone can advise which is the better option buying From Grout shield their product or from Davco to re grout my whole house? I'm considering between this two product thanks

For grout shield. U can ask the guy to come to your house and do a sample.


If you hav porous tiles. Both will stain.
But if u use masking tape and do section by section
It will be much easier.

Most ppl do it for bathroom.


If you are considering DIY. It takes time and effort.

I bought Davco recently and planning to use it for my kitchen over the coming long weekend. The gaps between the tiles (HDB homogeneous tiles) are big (7 year old premium flat, second owner). Will that stain as well as should I use masking tape?

Thanks so much for your detailed explaination. How about Davco products are they better then grout shield? My homogenous tiles are non porous for my toilets and kitchen I will be using masking tape. I have actually narrowed Down to Grout Shield or Davco.

Only Grout shield.

but do remember. All these grout sealing products will last you a few years only.
after sometime, you have to reapply.

Just time consuming and effort...you need to do alot of prep work. eg. masking, extra damp cloth to wipe of the excess or spill over grout.

$200 inclusive the buffing?

If including the buffing then i think is damn worth it.
Coz is very tedious process.

for other areas like living room & bedroom, i went for marble gum.
which is more expensive but last longer.

Maintenance is the thing.
you go for this shield stuff, you will have less headache about cleaning.
now cleaning is so much easier and hassle free.


The buffing machine use in the video also the same as marble gum.
In fact that guy from grout shield knows the marble gum contractor that i engaged.
I think they have some kind of collaboration.
before that, grout shield doesn't have this buffing services.

This is marble gum on homogeneous tiles.
The only disadvantage of this....is they can't do it for the skirting.
Skirting still need manually shield...which i can't be bother with it.

Buffing i didn't get it.
as my bathroom tiles not porous.
porous tiles cannot buff.

For resale is more expensive, $5.50.

Both of them r nice guys.



Amazon is selling cheaper and if u know the colours that you want.
White is sthg which everyone needs.
coz
you need to seal the basin areas or those white grout.

I tried the Grout Shield on my bathroom tiles left it for a week before washing it as I do not stay there often.

After washing my bathroom I realised that parts of my groutshield came off! Wasted my money buying this. Should have just gone for the traditional method of grouting it with cement.

I am diy my homogeneous tiles grout using grout shield now. not easy though.. experience that grout shield does not stick to some of the grout. some grout line does not absorb the grout shield. any idea why?

Firstly, the grout should be dry before applying grout shield.
and
use masking tape or painter tape to tape the sides of the grout.

Personally i use masking tape and make sure u press hard on the tape.
Use a new masking tape...those old masking tape sometimes doesn't stick well on the tiles.

Next, do it section by section.
1 tile area or 2 tiles area.
Don't try to attempt 3-5 tiles together.
You will have hard time to remove the excess.

Apply grout shield on the grout...and use ur finger to roll it over the grout.
and then apply to the next tile.

After applying the 2nd tile, remove the tapes from the 1st tile.
you might find missing "areas" and you can use a small brush to apply on the missing grout.

You can get this kind from Daiso.
but
of coz, if you do not have steady hands, then use the tape method again.
but wait for the grout shield to dry first before applying the 2nd round.
otherwise you will create a mess on the tiles.

thx for the detailed explanation. do you do that for your homo tiles? my homo tiles and grout is level.. meaning to say the grout is not sunken into.

my homogenous tile have a slight sunken groove. So it is much easier to apply.
if your grout and tile is level. perhaps that is the reason why is harder.

After washing my toilet I left it to dry for a week. The following week I came using masking tape I tape over the tiles to prevent the grout shield from spilling out and stain the tiles. After applying, I used a brush to spread it evenly on the grout lines.

I left it for a week to dry before washing the toilet. Sadly parts of it fell off.

I could let it dry because I usually don’t stay at my own place on weekdays.

Was disappointed. This was how it looked.
