Gt 640 3gb

Planned to DIY a desktop for surfing n casual gaming but gf went to buy a hp desktop at $1500!! (inclusive of a samsung monitor) Not aware bout exact specs but it is roughly as follows

Intel i5 (exact model unsure)
8gb ram
NvdiA gt640
E rest not critical..

I know it's more expensive den DIY n all.. But she bought alr...
Main game I play is Dota 2 and I know it is well overkill for dota 2.. But anyone knows if e gfx can support battlefield 3? If can't play bf3 well... Really a waste of money

High settings on Full HD requires something having 2-3x the graphics power of your GT 640. GT 640 is definitely a no go for BF3, even resolution have to be tune down to churn out enough fps for smooth gameplay. She could have gotten a HD 7970 if she went for DIY route..

ya, no joke. you can go try. that gpu is so weak i bet it cant even use 1.5gb/3gb. i no idea why nvidia produced it with 3gb.

To fool average joes who know nuts about PC hardware. There's even a Leadtek GT630 with 4GB lol

Everybody is making TS more sad with the critics on the HP computer TS is using now.. $1.5k can have way better specs than the HP computer, with better specs, colour combination in components and better performance.

Not so jialat in fact,can play med setting at 1280 x 1024reso. Benchmarks test as shown below. But still $1.5k can get you i5 cpu setup with SSD and AMD 7950 cards with Dell ultrasharp monitor?

$1500 can get Core i5 system with HD 7970 + Dell U2312HM without SSD though...

his GT640 is rebranded GF116 core. while the other GT640s are GK107/GK107-200 core which have more shader units.
