do not have any older card to live with temporary. so if really no choice, i dont know what to do...

Also if you decide that the "new" features are not applicable to you - then you can consider picking up a second hand 1080 as the price will have depreciated more since it will be 2 generations back.

I have personally tested a RTX 2080 Ti vs a GTX 1070 and its very capable of running games in 4K (yes there are some areas that you can see a difference but I was surprised of how little).

If I am coming from 1080, and gaming at 1440p Will there be any big differences?

hmm.. your current set up with IGP? temporary use that while you RMA your GTX 1080. Just endure. Play at low resolution to med.

Do not be fooled by the 2080 card,.. I am pretty disappointed with the 2080 Ti as it struggles on some titles in max 4K settings.

IF the uplift is as high as being leaked 30%+ between 2000 and 3000 series then jumping from your 1080 to the 3000 series there will be a world of difference - yet to be seen/proven so take it with a pinch of salt!

Any idea when 3080 will be out ?

There is no definitive date being provided at this point. There is a lot of rumours that both the CPU and GPU may get released once the new consoles get released as there is a high likelihood that the consoles have some of the new tech in them. Again all speculation :s22:

advice is to downgrade or/and get a used card to tahan for now. With 3000 series coming out really no point getting a high end 2000 series now.

Send in your cards for RMA. If need to wait, try to ask distro for a loan card while waiting for the rma.

Recently changed to 1440p monitor, is it that 1080 can’t take it? Not possible right ?

I have been using 1440P since 6yrs again and my card is a zotac 1070 founder edition. So it's not possible.

Or just get the 2080 Super. Most likely around the performance of a 3070 or 3060.

If you can wait until the new 3080 ti comes out, many of us 2080 ti owners will be offloading them second hand below $1.4k definitely.

Ya, it was enabled and no issues using before that (three days), and suddenly these issues come.
disable to test... to determine if flickering is due to vrr
then also try fullscreen mode in game, instead of borderless windowed
and nvcp try setting gsync mode for fullscreen only

gud luk
