GTX1070 Ti High Temp

Recently I bought a new gaming PC and is experiencing high max load temp when playing Witcher 3 at high to ultra setting. Below are my idle and load temps:

Processor idle and load temp: 45 C to 63 C
GPU idle and load temp: 56 C to 83 C

Is it okay for my GPU to be running at 81 to 83 C constantly for prolong gaming usage?

My PC specifications:

Processor: Intel i5 8400
Mobo: MSI Z370 Gaming Pro Carbon
GPU: Galax GTX1070 Ti EX 8GB
RAM: Corsair Vengence RGB DDR4 3200mhz (2 x 8GB kit)
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo SATA 250GB
PSU: Seasonic Focus Plus 650W
CASE: Phanteks Eclipse P400S Tempered Glass
CPU COOLER: Deepcool Gammaxx GT RGB

If you find that it's too high try using MSI afterburner to set your fan curve. So that when u are playing the temp will be slightly lower than their auto.

Beside that W3 is kinda GPU intensive game and with the game settings u playing @ dunno which resolution. Eventually your GPU will work even harder.

But as for the affects of the gpu varies depends. Some can't last long some do. Luck plays a part as well and many other factors.

If you find that it's too high try using MSI afterburner to set your fan curve. So that when u are playing the temp will be slightly lower than their auto.

I set the fan RPM to 100% but it can only lower the temp to between 79 - 80 degree at most. My temp is almost similar to a Founder's edition card which is absurb because this card is fitted with a custom cooler.

80c is pretty normal in ITX cases but should not be normal in roomier cases UNLESS airflow sux

1) The game is Witcher 3.
2) I am runing on stock speed (no OC).
3) My case is an ATX case with 1 intake and 1 exhaust fan.

poor airflow in casing, or poor TIM application for your card. try leaving the side panel open and having a desk fan blowing directly into it, if the car temperatures drop significantly, then it's likely the former reason.

Panteks ITX reviews all say it has bad airflow. Try removing the side panel and check the temps.

Not enough fans lar. You need 2 in 2 out optimally. Put this in mind, you're running a gpu that's similar to a gtx 1080 (180W TDP), especially in Witcher 3, which is extremely intensive to the gpu.

Just add 2 more fans to your chassis (1 more intake 1 more exhaust, suggest getting gentle typhoon ap15) or even 3 fans (2 intake 3 exhaust) as running negative air pressure actually cooler for the overall of the system. Since your system is quite pretty with rgb, spend like $119 for the Cooler Master Masterfan Pro Air Balance RGB 3 fan pack, put all to exhaust. It will add some lights to your system, yet cool everything pretty well too.

Or you can try find Corsair SP120 RGB 3 pack with controller (used from Carousell or HWZ marketplace), where people sell from their Corsair Crystal Series chassis. But this need to control the speed a bit, it's pretty noisy when the RPM go above 1600rpm.

Using same case as you, have 2 intake and 2 exhaust. Getting same temperature when playing Witcher 3 with my 1080ti I think the case has bad airflow since Once I removed the side panel or front panel temp dropped by 3-5C. No OC and fan is set at 70%

83 is the limit set by factory. You're fine running at that temp for few hours no problem coz that's how we test the gpu stability by synthetically load it to max and run at max temp to test the gpu. If you worry, remove your side panel for now and blow the system with a stand fan until you gotten your fans lor. Not the prettiest temporary solution but workable.

Anyway, don't worry about temp. Once hit 83, NVIDIA GPU Boost 3.0 will lower the auto boost to lower clock to maintain the temperature at 83. Still, the running clock will be higher than advertised base clock and boost clock for some cases, and very likely higher than a Founder's Edition.

As suggested above, if you worry, then use Galax Tuner Plus or MSI Afterburner to lower the max temp target to 80 or even lower if 83 is uncomfortable with you. Maintain the power target at 100%, make an aggressive fan curve and everything stock. Just unlink the max temp and power target, lower the max temp target and save.

No problems with the temps. GPUs are smart enough to throttle down if it hits a critical temp. So you can just carry on gaming.
