GTX680 or 7970..... Can't decide.....

My graphics card recently uplorry. Went to RMA but distro say my card EOL already.... Ask me top up for a new model..... So I am thinking between GTX680 or 7970...... Hmm hard to decide.

I have been using ATI cards all these while. Now hands a bit itchy feel like trying Nvidia cards. Titan is out of budget for me so left GTX680 only. But I don't know if I should get it or just stick with ATI cards....

So guys any idea. What do I gain if I go Nvidia? My requirements very simple. As long as games run smoothly at highest settings at 1920 x 1080 on my 23" monitor, I happy already. If can overclock I even more happy.

GTX 670 lah. Or just SLI them. From benchmarks I don't see any reason to get a 680.

IMHO, if ur comfi with ati all this while...stick to it then..

Things fps numbers don't tell you:
1) Texture/shadow/AA errors
2) Input lag
3) Micro-stuttering

Frankly speaking 670 or 680 really no difference but price is like $100 diff

And NVidia cards do not have these in varying degrees? Then how come my Bioshock Infinite kena micro stutter like mad, every few seconds stutter on my 2x GTX670 SLi'ed? It's not so bad to the point it's unplayable, but annoying nonetheless. IF you play with both cards, sure got some issues with both with certain games, or game engine, from time to time. As for frame lag, AMD has said that they'd release a driver with a complete mem usage rewrite I believe, that would help alleviate this issue.

Between the two, the HD7970 IF it comes with the two AAA games....if not, it's a toss up between the two. But I'd still tilt towards the HD7970 because of the 3GB VRAM.....unless the GTX680 gotch 4GB VRAM one.

Hmm... ok thanks..... I think I will go for 7970 since it has 3GB.

Btw, for micro stuttering etc.... I don't know much about it. Cause my previous card is 6990. Maybe I only run at 1920 x 1080 so I don't notice any micro stuttering.

I don't know but if there is any stuttering, its just no obvious to me.

Btw, GTX690 looks like a very good card......Making me gian.... either to go for 7990 or GTX690.

I had the chance to try a SLI and crossfire config, 670 and 7950 respectively. The crossfire one super obvious while I did not manage to feel any for the 670, which seems to be the general opinion on forums like hard and overclockers. I am guessing the nvidia one while there, still not as bad yet.

Keyword being varying degree. You're right that nVidia has them too, and some games do do better with AMD.

But so far, from personal experience, among games that I've played, more of them do better with nVidia. Flickering shadows and missing textures with AA/AF enabled occur much less often with nVidia, if at all.

Using one for myself and I'm glad I saved the money buying it instead of the 680, the original one I wanted which was unfortunately sold out the day I came to buy.

If you are tight on your budget, then get the the 7970 instead

for a long time.eg. 5870`based on my exp, if u prefer nvidia best is dont go highest end. why?

Last time 2006 gtx8800 king of hill best single card $1000 sgd
a few month later a new 8800gt same performance for half the price.

gtx680 introduce that time a few weeks later gtx670 come out for almost same performance at $100+ cheaper?

now gtx titan 1k usd .rumoured gtx780 abit slower @ $600 usd
